The ghost train, an opera, the Phoenix story, an actual cataclysm WoR/WoB, there are so many iconic elements in this story. Many great games have one great moment. This has so many. A perfect 10.

Great story, diverse characters, amazing gameplay, beautiful graphic, magnificent score, plus the opera maria and draco. These are why FF VI is the greatest FF of all time and FF IX is a close second.

My favorite entry always alternates between VI and IX. VI was my gateway to the franchise as a kid, whereas IX is easily my most played and the one I'm most versed in.
