If your theory is true then Maybe Kirby survived because sakurai already saved him. By refusing to make more Kirby games he saved Kirby and kept him as he was meant to be.

Maybe this is why Kirby was chosen to be the only surviving character. Kirby is technically Sakurai’s original creation, so perhaps this symbolizes Sakurai fighting against the issues discussed in the video.

Honestly, this is really sad to hear. But also in a way, sweet. He saved his own creations and I love the fact Kirby survived since Kirby was basically the start of Sakurai's career. This theory is great and probably accurate. Solid video.

It actually make even more sense now about why only Kirby survives. Sakuri already left the company and tried to stop the over making of Kirby games, in turn saving him from Galeem's rays of light.

This theory really makes sense as you play as Kirby in the beginning of the World of Light story mode. Kirby could also represent Sakurai (I mean it would be funny if you start playing as the Master Hand in this mode) as it was his creation--the beginning of successes in his game development career--and his embodiment of Kirby would be a catalyst in saving the soulless crossover of characters and thus would be a "celebration" of these franchises, as Matpat stated.

Wow. That was a heavy theory, and I hate to admit that Masahiro Sakurai is absolutely right. I get that fans are crazy and they want more, I absolutely get how corporations want to churn out more of the same content (with a fresh coat of paint) just to satisfy the customers and/or get rich. But I don't think there is a reasonable way of going about this. Nowadays, creativity is risk. Making one bad call can turn the backs of multiple fans and shareholders. Until such a time where consumers are receptive to more creativity, or until the demands of shareholders lessen to allow for more freedom of design, I don't think we will EVER reach the "true ending". Thank you, MatPat (and The Completionist), for making this theory. I think this is a wake up call to the current gaming industry, especially with all the recent drama from Blizzard, EA, Bethesda, and so on.

My wife and I are creators and I cant express how important these ideas are, and how much they scare us into not wanting to publish our works. The idea of corruption from money and big companies or a toxic/overly critical fandom. And that's if our stories do their absolute best. This world treats peoples personal stories, their works of love and intense labor and passion, like garbage. It really is heartbreaking.
