This movie is seriously underated. Many people complain that Cloud acts like an emo but taking into consideration that he still blamed himself for the deaths of Zack and Aerith it makes a lot of sense he would be depressed.
I love that this movie takes the time to show him grieving and finally forgiving himself and allowing himself to be happy.

Two things I want to bring up about this film
1)This movie was designed for those who are familar with the FF7 videogame. Anyone who hasn't played or even looked into that game, your pretty much screwed in regards to understanding the premise behind the movie, who the characters are, and they world they live in.
2)People for some reason complained about Cloud being portrayed as "edgy" in this, even though this film shows him going through PTSD and survivors guilt, having let 2 closest people (Aerith and Zack) die for his sake. Not to mention him having an incurable disease while trying to find a cure for an orphan with the same incurable disease so as not to fail in saving someone else push the matter further. Honestly, Vincent Valentine is still more edgy than Cloud Strife.

Being young when I originally watched it I can say I didn't care for the messy plot, seeing the at the time mind blowing animation of my favorite FF's characters flipping and dipping was enough to love the movie.

I got the DVD when it came out. It has a special place in my heart. Somber and edgy, just how I like my Cloud lol. If I remember right, thy added extra scenes to help explain the story b/c not many could figure it out.

Just watched this movie few days ago again, what an awesome movie man it still holds up. It doesn't feel dated at all. Your work is tremendous keep up the great stuff.

I first watched this as a kid and fell in love with the visuals and barely even understood the story.

Rewatched it after binging videos on the story of Crisis Core and the OG FF7

That ending hits like a fucking truck after you fully understand it all and how the characters relate to each other. I cried seeing Aerith and Zack at the end because I fully knew how much it meant and that it meant Cloud was finally free of his demons.
