Honestly, i live in germany and figs are even a pretty easy tree here 😂 they need a little babying the first few winters but after that they go nuts.

❤❤❤I have several figs and have grown more from cuttings. I found out I could root them easily because I broke a small branch by accident and just stuck it in a pot & it took!

I'm growing Celeste, Brown Turkey, and Chicago Hardy in south-central NC, now zone 8a (was 7b when we bought here 5 years ago). As mentioned, once you have a fig tree established, you can grow several more from each tree's winter prunings. Just stick the cutting into a 1-gallon pot with soil and keep it moist indoors until the danger of hard frost is past. Super easy to grow!

This short seems like it should have a companion video...that i would very much like to find and watch...
I do love my figs here in central Arizona. They do great. 3 years in the ground, providing nice shade, thick sturdy trunk (the little critters try to eat my tree trunks, so thats important), lots of figs this year, didnt have to water it much- and we didnt get much rain this year... love it! I have a Chicago Hardy and a Black Mission. I should add, it was a dryer year than usual and my mulch is ever thinning (ducks and chickens play in it) and they did great!

I grew mine from a cutting NO ROOT HORMONE in zone 7B and 1 year later I'm getting tons of fruit...for free!

DTG should I keep my figs in pots down here in Palm Beach County then since we go from real dry to tropical rain forest? I have a few and wondered if I will even get them to fruit since I kill rosemary almost every year. 😂

We like the "Texas Everbearing fig" here in Texas. Very sweet with a long season.

Figs do like a bit of sun is my experience. Mine are surviving, but I need to drop a few more trees and maybe amend the soil. The only ones that I have that are special is one O'Rourke and I just got a Chicago Hardy fig last spring. Sometimes I get fireants eating the figs.
All of my efforts are to be dedicated to growing cassava, yacon, and yams for next year. My area is the pace community of Santa Rosa County, FL

Well good thing they like rocks. My PNW soil is very rocky. Lol.

I’ve heard Brown Turkey is supposed to be quite hardy. I would love to grow more varieties in Sweden.. we have one called Bornholm.

True, fig trees are easy to grow in the deep south (south Florida). The fruit however, are not. The rain and high humidity make it very difficult to keep the figs from fermenting /spoiling before full ripeness. Brown Turkey may be a nematode resistant variety but the open eye makes it very susceptible to spoilage as the fruit it is ripening.

Despite my efforts in the opposite direction, vines have pretty much killed our fig. However, it rooted a low branch, which I accidentally cut loose; so when it goes dormant, I can dig it up and move it.

The only fig I can kinda grow is the Chicago hardy fig in my high tunnel.i planted it this spring, it froze and died back to the ground. I've learned how to tighten up my high tunnel so even though we've been down in the teens and it is late November and it hasn't died back again yet. When it's down below 0 outside... we'll see
