WHAT IS THE ATHEIST EXPERIENCE?

The Atheist Experience is a weekly call-in television show in Austin, Texas geared at a non-atheist audience. The Atheist Experience is produced by the Atheist Community of Austin.

The Atheist Community of Austin is organized as a nonprofit educational corporation to develop and support the atheist community, to provide opportunities for socializing and friendship, to promote secular viewpoints, to encourage positive atheist culture, to defend the first amendment principle of state-church separation, to oppose discrimination against atheists and to work with other organizations in pursuit of common goals.

We define atheism as the lack of belief in gods. This definition also encompasses what most people call agnosticism.

So god stays hidden for 100s of thousands of years after modern humans evolved, while man worships a variety of false sky gods, then he doesn't appear as Yahweh at first, he's part of a group of Canaanite gods, which evolved from Babylonian and Egyptian gods, then he splits off and goes on a god bashing campaign claiming all the other ones are false and he's the only real one. His son comes to earth to save mankind because he created sinful faulty people, got mad about it, blamed and punished them, then regretted it, flooded earth and regretted that too. His son doesn't do anything until about age 30, then gets himself killed about 3 years later. He doesn't write anything down, there's no record of him even existing, then decades later anonymous authors write conflicting accounts of his life. And after all of this, if we don't believe in him then we're destined for hell. Yea, sure, that sounds reasonable! I think not!

I'm kind of like D'Arcy below. There was a time when I thought Hell would be a good place to end up. You never read that the devil wanted to slaughter people just for giggles. He certainly is not the blood thirsty goofball that would have his kid crucified just to satisfy himself, and the list goes on and on. And then a final reward where you live forever just to praise that monster unending. You can have my ticket. So now I'm an Atheist - period!
