as an Indonesian I can confirm that this is true. it’s literally much more cheaper to fly to Malaysia or Singapore from Jakarta (capital city) than fly to Aceh (westernmost province) or to Papua (easternmost province). glad that in the end of 2024 our capital is moved into the more strategic location.

Asia divided into 6 parts:-

1. Siberia
2. East Asia
3. Indian subcontinent/South Asia
4. Middle East
5. Central Asia
6. South-East Asia

We can divide South East Asia into Island and Mainland.

And Middle East into Arab and Iranian

Considering Turkey and Azerbaijan in Middle East as Turkic(Central Asian).

Georgia and Armenia are not Asian as per my definitions....

That's why there's a saying in Indonesia, "dari Sabang sampai Merauke". It means all throughout Indonesia: more than 5000km of distance!

True, the distance of Indonesia’s western tip Banda Aceh to eastern most of Jayapura/Merauke is 5, 200km length. Equally from Jakarta To Busan or London to Qatar.

In my Asian Studies class, they started off the semester by explaining that there is actually no reason to separate Asia and Europe like we do. The separation was first made by the Ancient Greeks to describe everything to the East of them (mainly meaning Persia) as an "us" and "them" kind of thing. Up until very recently, most Asian countries had no concept of being a part of Asia, seeing as the cultures of the region are so varied and hard to place under a single label. People in rural parts still don't really see the world this way (my tutorial leader for this class experienced this herself when she was young in rural China). Historically it was more important who you were ruled by, or who had cultural influence over your country such as in the case of Chinese tributary states.
