OBS v31.0 Won't Game Capture Riot Games (League of Legends, TFT, Valorant)

For the past week, I've been unable to capture any League of Legends gameplay using the OBS game capture feature within version 31.0. I would only receive a black screen and a red square in the top left corner. I've tried watching every video that I could to resolve the problem but ended up having no luck. I eventually discovered the below Reddit thread discussing the issue followed by an official statement by OBS mentioning that version 31.0 currently has an issue broadcasting any Riot Games software using the game capture feature due to the Vanguard anti-cheat. For the time being until this issue is resolved, I would strongly suggest using the older version of OBS (30.2.3) which as worked for me since doing the swap. Hopefully this video helped to save you countless hours of troubleshooting and rebuilding scenes within OBS like I had too.

Instead of display capture you could do "Window Capture" and where it says "Capture Method" change it to "Windows 10 (1903 and up)" and it should work. Then enable "Capture Audio (BETA)" if you only want the game sound to be captured instead of your desktop's audio which includes everything.

1. set game to windowed
2. lock mouse to window
3. record window/screen
(4. resize game window in obs so the borders are actually outside the recording view)
or just go borderless

Oh, so that was your issue. It WAS Vanguard. Figured it probably had something to do with it.

You know when using display mode with the game in windowed mode - You can hold 'Alt' to trim/crop the edges of the OBS capture which hides the Windows UI(?) bits - Just FYI

Yeah OBS 31 doesn't work with Elden Ring or Armored Core 6 which both have anti-cheat. Tried Window Capture too, and it turns the obs screen white. Going to have downgrade after stream tonight.

Im having this problem too. I use screen capture and it works just fine but when I do game capture, valorant just completely stops working. Man things be complicated for no reason.
