Mini pigs are so popular that many of them have cute social media accounts on the internet, But do mini pigs make good pets in the real world? They are not good for the people unprepared for their needs, size at maturity, and potential health issues. However, having mini pigs in the family can be fun and rewarding as long as their human caregivers understand the pitfalls. Be prepared to adjust to negative surprises and commit to your mini pig’s life-long care. Mini pigs need outdoor space to enjoy fresh air, root around and relieve themselves. Raising mini pigs as pets depends a lot on their breeding. Adopting mini pigs from reputable breeders is incredibly important to increase the probability of having healthy pets. They are smaller versions of standard-sized pigs, but they’re not all miniature in size. They can range in weight from 70 to 300 pounds. Unfortunately, there’s no way of knowing exactly how big your young mini pigs will get until they mature.

I appreciate the honesty, so many people think they are getting a mini pig that will be the size of a pug, no . Like he said 70-300 lbs and yes that is small compared to a older farm pig. These people are showing you a 6 week old and y'all believe them.

I love my pig, I love having a pig, they're great animals, sure they're not met for everyone, but they're great animals to work with.

Actually there’s no such thing as mini pigs. It’s like saying getting a puppy is getting a mini dog. No, all including pigs grow to be north of 70 pounds over the life of the pig.

I found a breeder that stays as small as 15-20 inches or less

No such thing as a "Mini" pig. They're Pot Belly pigs and no they're not as big as a farm pig or hog. I own 2 Pot Belly Pigs and both are around 250 lbs.

After your mini pig turns into a 300 lb. mega hog, are you still wanting this in your living room?

You don't get mini pigs unless they are born with a disability

Leviticus, Chapter 11, verses 7-8
"Don't eat pork. It is not clean; It also has split toenails. It also eats his vomit. Do not eat this animal or touch its carcass; it is not clean.”

I hate it when they call them mini pigs. Even a mini pig generally outweighs a large dog. And the biggest mini pigs will outweigh the heaviest of all dogs

No. Mini pigs DO NOT make good pets! Why? They never stay “mini”. They never stay cute and small. They grow up. And when they do, they end up weighing several hundred pounds. People have not been able to successfully breed any mini pigs. If they tell you they have, they’re lying. If you live in the city, you’re going to have to rehome your pig simply because you’re going to run out of space. If you have some land and enough space for animals in a more rural setting, you might be ok. But understand these things get huge.
