And in that instant, Anna is the safest person in the solar system.

After watching this several times, I'm pretty sure that Amos has never met anyone as pure of spirit as Anna, doesn't know what to do, except to protect her.

I think a lot of people are missing the point here:

Amos is not a good person. Anna is a good person. Amos knows he is not a good person. Anna does not.

Amos wants to protect Anna because, despite not being a good person himself, despite feeling no guilt or regret about his own actions or the life he's led, he has no desire to see others follow the same path he has. You can see this with Prax, too: "You're not that guy" ; "I am that guy".

His mind wasn't changed by what Anna said; he doesn't feel any differently about violence or death or anything they were talking about. The only thing that changed was that he realized she really believed what she said; he realized she /wasn't/ broken- isn't broken- the way he is. If nothing else, I think he wants to protect /that/.

She is a window into a world he can never reach or understand: a world ripped from him as a child; carried ever deeper into the night.

This isn't about her, it's about him.

Amos has spent years looking for someone like Anna to lead him in the right direction and show him the difference between right and wrong. He thought Naomi could do that for him, but realised he was wrong when he met Holden. Anna is even more of a straight-shooter, she doesn't just understand and recognise the difference between right and wrong, she wants to make things better for ALL of us. Amos has never met anyone like her-so he knows he needs to protect her, no matter what.

Watching this now, there are some small details of the acting that really stand out. Anna puts her hand on Amos' shoulder with hesitation at first, of course because Amos' bristles with violent energy, but in the end she knows that she can reach out to him. He looks at her hand, and I think he spots her wedding ring. I feel like that was part of Amos' motivation to tell Anna that he would protect her. Not only was she important as a spiritual healer, so to speak, but the ring underscored Anna's initial anxieties about unfinished business with the people she loved.

Hearing the words, "I'm not going to let anyone hurt you." Come out of Amos Burtons mouth must be a terrifying thing to a pacifist.

Everyone seems to hate Anna. I loved her and she was so incredibly human but not only that, but the best humanity had to offer.

Amos: "I'm adopting this one."

This scene is one of the deepest of the show. It's fire meets ice. Both have a core of doing good, but they accomplish it via different means.
One of the best of the show. Which is to be expected. Because its Amos.

Amos knows what he is. He's fairly sure he knows what Anna is. He knows that by his own code she must be protected by any means necessary, even if she doesn't like those means.

He can live with that.

Amos i swaer, when he sees a good heart he just melts. Amos was so pure even through all that happen to him. He was still that little boy looking for a way out.

Amos grabs Anna's arm as she turns to leave. "No it's Amos Burton."

Amos looks desperately for someone to keep him from turning into a monster. That's what Naomi, then Anna and then Clarissa Mao meant to him.

This, along with the Ring Gates opening at the end of the episode, were the most beautiful scenes in the series. The rest of it was awesome too, all the way to the end of season 5. But these two scenes in particular, I'll always remember.

I wish Anna was in later seasons, I would have loved for her to have had scenes with Avasarala.

I keep re-playing the dialogue but it doesn't get any less impactful. Powerful words to remember!
