I believe there is a fuel gauge. It is located beside the seat. You have to look down beside your thigh to find it. I would think you could make the Toro ride better at speed by playing with the adjustment of the springs. I have a Toro 4000 with the my ride. I change spring settings from 1 to 2 when I mow the rougher part of my yard. You are correct. The Toro turbo force deck is the most efficient cutting deck.

Just bought a 54" Spartan and love it. Had never heard of them until I went in to my dealer expecting to buy a Gravely and salesman recommended the Spartan and this thing is really built solid. 23 hp Kawasaki engine is definitely a plus. I mow 3 1/2 acres and it really performs.

I’m a Ferris guy, but my brother runs those skagg mowers and likes them. I prefer the ride/speed of Ferris. Just a better mower.

Toro owns Spartan now and the Spartan are incredible. Lots of similarities. So I'm in agreement with you about the Toro but saying a Spartan would be very similar and, IMHO, they look better. If that matters.
