“The DIY-type people who really don’t know what they’re doing but for some reason do drywall videos...”.

That’s hilarious and true on many topics!

This craftsman makes great videos. Instruction starts about 1:38

If you read the instructions on fibreglass tape, it states that you have to use hot mud (setting compound), not regular joint filler on the first coat. Funny how no one reads the instructions and then complain about a product. But yeah, it does suck in corners.

Great vids, man. I'm a painter, been at it for 17 years, on my own the past 3. I agree with you totally on this. I do, however, use those fibotape metal patches over california when I have to disappear a bunch of outlets, so easy.

I'm one of those guys who prefers mesh tape....( I'm not a drywall specialist....I'm an all phases builder) You make a great argument for paper tape though. One thing I'm not convinced about is the strength argument. I'll need more data to convince me that paper can be stronger than fiberglass.

Great info, thanks! I feel validated in my dislike for fiberglass tape, tried it on my first join because someone told me it's easier, it turned out awful. Started again with paper and never looked back

Do they make paper tape with an adhesive side to it? I like mesh mostly for the adhesive and for uneven drywall jobs.
