In the Rajya Sabha, External Affairs Minister Dr. S. Jaishankar addressed the ongoing situation in Bangladesh. He emphasized that the Indian government is in close and continuous contact with the Indian community in Bangladesh through diplomatic missions. Approximately 19,000 Indian nationals reside there, including about 9,000 students, most of whom returned in July. Dr. Jaishankar highlighted the monitoring of minority status and protection initiatives by various groups. He assured that India's border guarding forces are on high alert amidst this complex situation, and continuous communication with Dhaka authorities is being maintained.
