Regarding the IBM DSP/Switch you should look into making blanking plates for the front/holes this will help to cool the modules as the air will just go through the least resistance

Another amazing video, Tobi. So enjoying seeing your progress as you work your way through all the problems...next-level fault finding! Thank you for sharing.

Hurray!! You did it Tobias. 😀 I’ve loved following this build so much as well as your other builds.

Congrats on getting the configurations to work.

Not sure why this project facinates me so much, I am not really into audio engineering at all - anyway a few thoughts came to mind from watching this:

1. You mention that some of the faders/clusters are not working, later when adjusting the sensitivity you pull them out and part of the print-boards are visible. I noticed that there are 2 chips (one labled 7.2 and one 4.2) which are both PALCE chips - these chips are "programmed" logic chips and I belive they are only guranteed to retain the configuration for 10 years, so chances are that some failing boards "simply" needs new programmed chips. Cloning these chips can be a bit tricky but I am fairly confident I can assist you with this if you need it at some point - might bring some of the units back to life.

2. Great that you get further into the configuration files (are the documentation available?), removing and modifying stuff is a good way to play around with it, but for maximum learning/understanding I personally have always found it better to start with a new blank configuration file - then build it up line by line - this way you make sure that you understand each and every line that is in there.

3. I am not sure I fully grasp the system, however the MC2 interface software seems fairly simple in first glance - as I see it it "only" a user-interface that takes your configuration as input and then sends commands to the management sofware on the server when you click interfaces/outputs... - If one could think of a way for the interface to work better, then I don't think it would be an insurmountable task to create a new interface software, which in turn could improve the usability of the system in general... something to keep in mind for down the road when you start actually using the system and think "ah it would be great if you could just click x".

Great series, regarding the "buggy Display" at minute 34, it looks like that a Analog Connector isnt connected strong enough(thats why you Screw in VGA Ports) wich results in displaying wrong things sometimes.

34:50 - Could be the video card is on the way out, potentially needs re-capping.

save getting up and down while setting up, remote desktop in to the windows system, save your legs haha, still think it would work using a hypervisor :)
Amazing work as always.

This is cool, but I just have one question... Why???

too complicated bro, but you probably get a great mix when done.... I just don't have 10 years to study at university to figure this monster out.
