P.L. Traverse did cry at the premier. But not because of the emotional climax of the movie. It was because she couldn't abide the cartoons. Which she said kind of loudly. And after the movie was over she went up to Disney and said we have to cut scenes out. Disney said the movie is finished.
Traverse was a bit of a snob. She didn't appreciate the difference between cartoons and animation. She also didn't understand the difference between script approval and final cut approval. She had script approval that's it.
She kept saying during the movie this is my movie. It wasn't her movie, it was Disney's. She was also arrogant as well. And a horrible mother.
I didn't have any problems understanding what was going on during the flashbacks. It was quite obvious.
I did think Emma Thompson was great in the role, she nailed it.

I haven't actually seen Mary Poppins but I really like this movie. Despite some of the fictionalization, it's a powerful story about how much Travers' story meant to her.

I do think this one is underrated. I love biopics that explore interesting topics like this. I’ve longed wanted to see a Proper BioPic of Walt Disney, also Stan Lee.

Emma Thompson and Tom Hanks knocked it out of the park, a crime this movie didn’t get more Oscar nominations. Some say this is an Oscar Bait movie.

I saw this when it came out its not 100% accurate still a good movie. Tom hanks was great as Walt Disney you felt his premise. It was interesting to see how what Mary Poppins characters were based Pl Travers. I never would halve gusses Mr. Banks was based her dad.

Despite growing up on watching disney movies i rarely watched mary poppins it was not a go to disney movie for me. Didnt appreciate until i got older.
