New T129 ATAK Helicopters Boost The Philippine Air Force’s Combat Capabilities
Показать описание
The Philippine Air Force (PAF) has significantly boosted its combat capabilities with the arrival of two T129 ATAK helicopters from Turkey at the 15th Strike Wing headquarters in Sangley Point, Cavite. These helicopters will operate alongside the PAF's armed light observation and transport helicopters, addressing capability gaps in urban warfare. These units, part of a $280-million deal, are the fifth and sixth attack helicopters delivered in this acquisition, which marks the first time Turkey has exported these advanced aircraft. As part of the Horizon 2 phase of the Armed Forces of the Philippines' Modernization Program, this fleet deal is a critical step in updating the country's military posture. The T-129 ATAK, based on Leonardo’s A129 Mangusta, features Turkish-developed avionics and weapon systems, including an M197 20 mm three-barrel rotary cannon, anti-tank guided missiles, and rocket systems, making it a versatile asset for armed reconnaissance missions.
