The inability to save usually happens to me when I do something in fairlight and then go back to the edit page. Quickest solution I have found is actually to just open a different timeline (or create a new one if you only have one in the project) and that seems to get Resolve working properly again. Hope that helps.

🙌🙌 Jason - quickly becoming a fan of your stuff dude. This SAVED the day today. Went back to edit a video after leaving it overnight and couldn't save. ALSO I've always wanted to know how to open two projects at once, so this was 2 tips that I'm immediately putting to great use. just sitting over here working away for hours mashing on cntrl S every couple minutes because it's such a (good) habit, only to realize it hasn't actually been saving anything. I noticed the "EDITED" word at the top or resolve was now RED which, for those that don't know, means it's been a LONG time since you last saved. So I tried to save and that's when I found out it wasn't working.

This saved me big time! Thanks so much for showing this fix!! Crazy that reports of this bug go back to 2020 and it's still a thing in 2023 for me.

I've been working on a project for days, then the program crashed and I lost everything, I fiddled with the save settings (which was already set to live saving) then re did everything, it crashed and I lost everything AGAIN EVEN THOUGH I was hitting control S after every edit!!! I know DaVinci will ask you if you want to save before closing it so I hit x and, got the pop up, hit save and the project literally did not save nor close unless I hit "don't save"

Edit: So I read a few comments and see that editing in fairlight could cause the issue and I had noticed that Davinci stopped saving while i was working in that tab. I had also left my project open over night to work on it the next day. Dont know which caused the issue but your fix helped. Thank you

Dude your the best!!! I only had a project open maybe 30 minutes, I was actively working on it, and it wouldnt save no matter what i did and i was afraid of closing it. Your tip reminded me what the home button bottom right corner was, i totally forgot what that was, THANK YOU!!! And 'boom' - it just works ! Jason, awesome tip...it always happens to me on my PC also (it's not a hardware thing as I have 32GB DDR5 ram, TB's of extra hard drive space, and a 12-core processor running idle most of the time). BUT Davinci has done this to me almost daily since day-1. I installed the "bleeding edge" release...same thing. Downgraded to the stable version...same thing. Upgraded to the latest 18.5...same thing. I love Davinci for editing, but this "wont save" bug has been driving me crazy. I've been "save paranoid" until I watched your tip video. I've lost hours and hours of edits...until now. Thank you for this great tip...a hidden gem. Works great !!

Thanks man! Had lost hours of work because of this recently even though live safe and backups were turned on. This was right after the latest udate to 18.6

Just found another possible workaround: Select or open any other timeline than the one currently open. Boom, saved instantly. Worked for me, at least ...
