Minecraft ticks happen 20 times per second, every tick the game checks 3 random blocks in every loaded chunk.
*/gamerule randomtickspeed* changes the tickspeed meaning that it changes how many blocks will update.

If the block is a plant, then the game checks the light level, as well as some other things such as water and surrounding blocks that depend on the plant.

The better the conditions are, the higher the chance of it growing. But it is still random chance.

Bedrock is unbreakable, as well as command blocks, end frames, and some others. These can all be broken on Creative mode.

Without hacking or modding the game, it is impossible to break any of these blocks on Survival mode. And it won't take 20 hours for any block, Mojang wouldn't put that in. The longest time to break a block is 4 min 10 seconds (I think) which is the time it takes to break obsidian with your hands.
The world is 383 blocks tall, here is the damage from falling 383 blocks.

No armour or hay: 380
No armour with hay: 70
Full netherite, Feather Falling IV on boots: 105
Full netherite, Feather Falling IV on boots and Protection IV on everything else: 74
Full netherite, Feather Falling IV on boots and hay: 17
Full netherite, Feather Falling IV on boots and Protection IV on everything else: 14
