Anxiety, as I've come to experience it, is the confrontation of the life one is living and the life one should be living. To be doing on a daily basis the wrong things. Perhaps it's a dead end job, or you are surrounded by a culture anathema to your existence. Perhaps a dichotomy of what you were taught to believe versus what you know to be true. Society expects us to conform, it wills us to submit. Walk your own path, even if you have to be make a meager living for yourself. Jump, before it is too late!

I see where he is coming from. However, I believe the greatest of all art and sport comes from performing and living in a Taoist-like “flow state”. Carl Jung wrote about Kierkegaard’s favorable stance on anxiety in a letter. Interesting read!
