Basic concepts of using a multimeter:
- Ohm Resistance Test (0:54sec)
- Audible Continuity Test (3:22sec)

Testing a dryer cycling thermostat (1:11sec) part number: 3390291
Testing a microswitch (2:11sec) 3 prong Omron microswitch

As the name implies, a multimeter has multiple uses. This video is to discuss the basic concepts of:
What is continuity - a continuous electrical path
What is an open circuit - a path in which there is not a continuous electrical path for voltage to flow.
What is a closed circuit - a path in which there is a continuous electrical path for voltage to flow.
What is an Ohm - a unit of measurement as it relates to electrical resistance (i.e. how hard is it for voltage to flow through a particular closed circuit)
What is a continuity test - a test by which we use a multimeter to determine if there is a continuous electrical path for voltage to flow through.

In appliance repair, a continuity test is one of the most helpful and most used tests to be familiar with. It will allow us to determine if a part is good or has failed, locate failed parts and also for general troubleshooting of an appliance system.
