I couldn't agree with you more. I am 5 months into my role as an AGACNP with 15 yrs of ICU/house supervisor experience. Talk about a huge learning curve. Everyday I reconsider this career choice and am reminded of how much I have to learn. I know what I don't know and a first it was about ME, but as I've learned (the hard way) it's about the team approach to the patient and working in their best interest. NP schools do a disservice by not focusing on this new change in thinking that has to take place. Thank you for always keeping it real. Thank you to the ALL the collaborating physicians out there who take the time to help us out

Thank you so much for this video. I was an ICU RN for 10+ yrs and I have been an ICU NP for a few months. It is so much harder than I ever thought. I really needed to hear this!

Hey Sean. I accepted a position in a large 40 bed MICU in a level 1 trauma center and I am ABSOLUTELY TERRIFIED!!!! My nursing background is CVICU and rapid response but I don’t feel prepared or confident to switch roles whatsoever lol. It’s funny listening to your video because in my interview I told the attendings that it was weird to me going from being in charge of my rapid response team and being totally confident to clinical in the exact same hospital that I’m familiar with and questioning literally everything and actually taking a backseat to my preceptor. On top of being a new ICU NP, MICU is not my specialty at all 😳. Can you recommend any resources?
