Is The Universe Eternal?

Brian Cox explains whether the Universe is eternal. He begins by examining the idea of eternal inflation, a theory that suggests our universe is just one bubble in a vast multiverse.

The video delves deeper into the idea of the universe's beginning, discussing the Big Bang theory and the evidence that supports it. Brian Cox explains how scientists have used observations of cosmic microwave background radiation to piece together the early history of the universe and gain insight into its origins.

Sir Roger Penrose proposes an idea whereby the universe ‘forgets’ how big it is and the same initial conditions at the start of the universe are present at the end of the universe. So after billions of years the universe starts again.

Nature exists because nothing cannot be. Hence it cannot be instead of nature.

The size of our understanding the universe is also expanding. The earth as this huge ball, then the earth and planets going around the sun, then the stars in she sky were sunslike our own. Then the millions of stars were all part of a giant galaxy, then the biggest discovery that there are millions of galaxies in a big bang. The current imit is the speed of light that limits what we can see. If only we could measure things beyond this, something faster, more pervasive than light then the next veil may be turned back.

What?? Its 13.8 billion old but we know it existed before that... What??

If the Singularity does apply to time then is clear, it didn't always exist
If it doesn't then it would never expanded and would had decayed (heat death)

Who is to say we all start from a black hole that ejected or decayed all its material away making the universe older than 13.8b years old

In the end it's infinity or nothing. It's not nothing so infinity it is. It might be infinity for something else than the universe and the universe might be finite. Basically nothing is unique so if the universe was created once one will be created again. Turtles All the Way Down is another way of putting it I guess..

Obviously is eternal. It will always be the universe in one form or another. You can’t have nothing at all (whatever that is) and then something.
Even if it does go to nothing, then something obviously will pop up again.
To say this is just a one time thing in all eternity is silly because it would never of happened in the first place.
If there has been infinite time before and infinite time to go, then yes it is forever, and we only see a tiny sliver in time which we can not really make any real answer to how and why.

We have some theories that the universe was in existence before pray tell...

I love Brian Cox….But as in all history and physics, books are changing with new technologies and understanding. As in humans, we are from another race more powerful and erudite than we are today.
Therefore, expect more changes to physics and science and history over the next 20 years.

I do believe that universe is in eternal & not at the same time. for comparison I'll use the human species. we are born, we live, & we die so that would mean that in a way we aren't eternal if your mind only has the capacity to think in that way but evidence show that our DNA is exactly as long & as old as the universe for which we reside in. our universe is 13.6 bil years old. so that would lead one toward the conclusion that reincarnation is real & definite. there are studies that I would inclde as proof towards tje reincarnation theory of mine. Some Children are born remembering their past lives. There is even a case were a man was convicted of murder because a young boy by the age 5 remembered who he was in past life & provide detail to police in manner he was murder & later they finally listening to the young man & he lead them to his former body & the man that did it. The young man was granted the opportunity the meet the siblings of the man who was him that died & they had a conversation & the sibling which are grown in age were sobbing & later stated that there was no way that baby could know the things that he did.

If we were able to uploaded our consciousness to a super computer, and we computed at the speed of light, would we essentially be able to function while time basically stood still?

Sir Isaac Asimov had a short story about how the Universe expanded and when it had all almost the answers it started closing down. Finally, there was only one being in one room in the last planet of the universe and he asked the last question that needed to be answered: Why are we here? The light went off and then, almost at the same instant, it started again (because It had all the answers, and the Universe started again. I imagine that is how it must be!

Of course. Abundance knows no bounds. The source energy is and will always CREATE. THEREFORE yes, Infinity is a term for many profound reasons.
