Why Can't The Universe Be Eternal Just As God Is Eternal?

It is common to hear that the same reasons why we say that God has no beginning can be applied to the universe, but let me tell you why this is not the case.

I became a fan of your lectures mr Turek. . . I hope more priests and churches will give this type of strong apologetic in the masses

I initially had an issue wrapping my head around the whole, "if the universe was eternal, then we would have never arrived at this point in time", then one day it just clicked (Thank you Jesus).

Here goes.
1. Time is a measuring tool...
2. In order to measure, one must have a starting point.
3. The very definition of eternal/eternity is no beginning/no end; just is
4. That which is eternal does not grow, does not deteriorate
5. Does not come into being, does not leave from being... There is no tick tock that can be applied to it...
6. Only God fits that label.
7. The universe cannot eternal because we are currently witness to time passing within the universe.

God is outside of time. We are in time along with all of the earth, space, sun etc. All in time and decay. We along with all creation are fallen. Christ came to be with us in time. To teach us yet again God's ways to love one another.

God simply is. That is why he calls himself I AM.

2:06 – 2:08

Here’s my problem with the atheistic tenants of the big bang.

First of all what would you call 2:06? “Super-heated mass” is still “something” right? How did that something get there? You still have a problem in regards to something coming from nothing because you can’t explain logically (let alone with evidence), that something coming from nothing is even plausible.

One of my favorite contradictions in the atheistic handbook of logical fallacies is this gem…

Atheist: The universe could exist eternally, meaning the universe has been here forever. There was no beginning for the universe because it was always there.

Christian: God is eternal and infinite and it is He who created all things because He was always there.

The atheist will scornfully express to me almost every single time that the Christians are crazy for believing in an eternal God that creates yet in the same breath confesses to believing that the universe can carry the exact same attributes.

The greatest and most powerful difference is that at least Christians have a being (God), who is capable of creating. This means the universe has a beginning. This makes much more sense as opposed to a void-less spontaneous self-combusting poof that decided to create itself, by itself (the big bang is its own cause).

Truly baffling.

Its strange to me that people will instantly go, "Well the beginning of the universe was a giant ball of matter that exploded." Okay, well where did it come from? Its not eternal because the universe and everything in it has a shelf life and is dying. It had a beginning and will end. So how do you think absolute nothing created everything, let alone something?

nothing isn't time, no time, space, and matter, its literal nothing including quantum fluctuations.

He's referring to the old Big Bang Theory; they updated it in the late 90s or early 2000s. But the universe can't be eternal because everything in it is dying.

Evidence doesn’t show that the universe came from non being. This guy is a grifter.

Scientifically speaking, matter (or the universe) can't have an infinite past because infinity is not a real number.

Logically speaking, invoking matter with an infinite past would also invoke the logical fallacy of infinite regress.

We no longer live in "Biblical Times". This is the 21st Century: Science has the benefit of so much investigation, assisted by amazing technologies. Fact: Everything in Nature, (in the Universe), is part of a cycle. All matter is bundled energy. Matter/Energy can neither be created, nor destroyed. Time/Space curves back on itself. There is no such thing as a perfectly straight line: Every line is part of a great curve. So let us please stop asking: "How was the Universe created". "THERE WAS NO DAY OF CREATION"! Furthermore: No "God" in his right mind, would want to take the blame for such a flawed world where humans have to constantly fight against hundreds of dreadful diseases in a highly flawed biosphere. Medical Science heals millions every day; no "God" required!

"Big Bang" is Big BS! If there ever was a time when nothing existed, nothing would exist now! Asking "How and when was Universe created?", is like asking a man who has never been married: "When did you stop beating your wife?". The fabric of Space/Time is a giant circle. Look at a circle: It has neither a beginning nor an end! Light which has travelled billions of lightyears, has been subjected to reflection, absorption, deflection, and refraction as it travels across vast space littered with matter and energy of every kind. Your "Red-Shift" is NOT "Doppler", it is the same red-shift you see at every sunset!

I always considered time to be a part of eternity in which mortals die.

To me it seems logical that time can't exist unless something exists and since God always existed then time always existed as well, but for God time is eternity because he had no beginning and can't die.

Zeus is Lord. The Flying Spaghetti Monster is the unmoved mover. Aliens from another universe created this one. Frank's favorite, the black and white fallacy, can be used to "prove" all of the above.

1. All natural things have a cause, and therefore the universe needs a cause.
Ok, all good so far.
2. Therefore an intelligent, all powerful, all knowing, all loving god created the universe and will send you to a realm of eternal torture if you are gay (homosexuality exists and flourishes in many other species besides humans, if you didn’t know)
Yeah... I don’t know how we got from step 1 to step 2 but ok 🤷‍♂️😂😂😂
