i really like ronald coleman, his films, the way he's talked about in books by people who knew him, it's a great pity so many people don't bother with B&W films.

The famed English actor Ronald Colman(1891-1958)was already 44 years old when he starred in the "Tale of Two Cities"in 1935 playing the hard drinking lawyer Sydney Carton.
Colman who was to win an Oscar for "A Double Live" in 1947 had been married to Benita Hume.

Dirk Bogarde is shown in the thumbnail but he was in the 1958 version, not 1935.

It is seemingly always the case that regardless of how many attempts their ever follows at adapting
a superior novel to the screen, it is invariably the very first - or the original that is always most highly praised. It might telling in this regard that it is always all of those which follow the very first rendition that are 'free viewing'. But never the original one.
Iv'e no idea as to particularly why this is seemingly always the case, but it makes sense to me, in that I too have found this indeed to always be the case.
Anyone out there know why this is ?
This film here is an example of exactly what I mean.
They may-well re-make a movie ten times, - but never have I ever thought the original improved on.
The first one is always-
always the very best one.
