I am on the first chapter and I feel like I am reading a foreign language. Lol. I don’t want to give up at the first chapter but I am really hoping it gets easier to understand.

If ur a beginner it we will be very tough to understand and Dickens has used many synonyms in this book.. If ur ready to take challenges it will surely show you Dickens magical realism.. I've read it five times to understand the complete plot.. Because I'm not a native English speaker. But after I finished it.. It was a wonderful experience

I am trying to read this, but I'm struggling with the first chapter and keep re-reading it! Your video is encouraging. I'm new to you channel and think it's great!

Really great review. Your enthusiasm for this book is infectious, makes me want to go read it again.
My favourite Dickens books are David Copperfield, Great Expectations and Bleak House. So of the books you have on your shelf i'd recommend David Copperfield or Great Expectations.

You're making me really want to give Dickens a shot. I'll have to add something of his to my TBR now.

Dickens wrote serials for newspapers, so his books seem long-winded because he was paid per installment. Thus, he develops the plot/ characters slowly!
I'm now two thirds through A Tale and, after a slow start, it is excellent and exciting.
I decided to look at a couple of reviews, including this and Sparks Notes (just the first 10 mins) which were helpful.
Don't try to read Classics at your normal speed. It usually pays to slow down because sentence construction, vocabulary and plot development is denser than most modern novels.

Have tried reading this classic multiple times but couldn't cross first chapter because of the language used. Your video is pushing me to read now. :)

This video is now four years old, i hope you’ve read a lot of Dickens by now.
I think, like many, A Christmas Carol was the book that got me interested in Dickens, but A Tale of Two Cities is my favorite.
I also found it very interesting to learn about Dickens himself, how he got inspired by studying people on the streets of London, especially in the Seven Points area

Im trying to write a novel. I have a main theme in mind and the beginnings of some characters built but I was told to read a tale of two cities to get started on how to perfect pacing. I'm excited to read it. Thanks for the review.

I've read Great Expectations, loved it! And Dombey & Son, excellent! And A Christmas Carol. I've fallen in love with Dicken's novels and plan to read them all. A Tale Of Two Cities is my next book! Thank you! 😊

Dombey and Son and Our Mutual Friend are my two favorite Dickens. I just recently started getting into his works and they do take some getting used to and one does need to invest time in them but they are wonderful

My favorite Dickens novel might be Bleak House, but this is also a good one!
