I'm an esthetician and pro MUA. I've been in the industry for over 14 years, so I have had a front row seat to the insecurities and obsession stemming from social media. I've started being brutally honest, but empathetic with my clients, letting them know what is real and achievable vs the highly edited filtered images online. I will have the client look in the mirror and point to their perceived flaws. Many times, they just need education and some knowledge.

As I got older I noticed that my face got let's say more droopy. Since then I make an effort to smile more. It lifts the face and people react nicely to a smile as well. That's a win win situation.

I worked with disabled people and there was a stroke patient getting botox injections in her arm to help with the stiffness. I cannot imagine using it for cosmetic instead of medical reasons.
