Nice comparison, Chris. I love the detailed way you run down items that aren’t just big “checkbox” items from the vendor.

Honestly, I was really on the fence about buying a v2, but WHAT 5 BENCHYS HOW COULD I PASS THIS UP IM BUYING 6

Agree with you that the V1 is a better printer for people willing to tinker. For the $100 saved you can upgrade it to a 32bit board with 2209's, and still have enough money left over for a (clone) BMG extruder and 3D touch. V2 is probably a better option for (trying to put this nicely) non-technically minded entry level users who are interested in 3D printing because it's the cool thing at the moment.

Or come to think of it, in simpler terms:
Nerds = buy a V1
Geeks = buy a V2

I went for the V2, it is only ≈40 USD more now. Thanks for the detailed video.

u forget to mention the v2 has thermal runaway protection. STOCK. safety is key, and the v2 wins out in every sense there.

I have also found that the rubber feet have saved the cords from getting smashed on multiple occasions

I got the v2 as my first printer

I have na ender 3 board 1.1.4 and bought a BlTouch smart V3.1 (original). Did everything followed every step and even check a few youtube vídeos, everything worked fine! Until the first print…
Resuming: the printer ignores the Z offset, the value is there but it’s ignored, and either prints in the air or crashed with the build plate… I tryed intalling a Marlin 2.0 but the cable that came with the bl touch kit uses a usbHID driver and not usbASP and I can’t connect with the printer in order to install a bootloader…

Can anyone give me any hint?

I would have foregone the cost of tooling and production of that wheel and upgraded that extruder to the alloy version with twin gears, of course, this will add a little to the top-end $ but considering it will need to be added eventually by the user I believe this adds value to the unit

Props to Ender putting this on their site, it's not a biased review. Makes me want one even more because of that

Should have thrown a Ender 3 Pro in the mix and compared all three. Also you should mention some of the upgrades that you could do on the V1 like a skr mini E3 v2 board to get similar print quality.

An Ender 3 v1 with an aluminum extruder, 32bit Bigtreetech board and an all-metal hotend should end up within a few dollars of a stock v2. So in my opinion, the v1 is definitely the better buy

My first printer was an Anet A8, which I heavily modified and converted it to an AM8. A few weeks ago I purchased the Biqu B1. Gotta say I'm loving it. Don't think I can part with my AM8 though. So I now have two 😃

Thanks Chris for the comparison, I’m not sure I would go for the V2. For an extra hundred bucks I would’ve expected a little More like auto bed leveling as an example. I also was a little disappointed as you were that they hadn’t fixed the extruder plastic arm assembly. Again a great great video thanks so very much

Hey Chris! I upgraded my Ender V1 board to a Creality 4.2.7 and flashed it with Marlin Bugfix 2.1.X. Everything seems to be working great with only the slight hiccup of the CF CARD reader not re reading the card if you ever pull the card out and reinserting it, or inserting another card. The only way to remedy this is to power cycle the printer. I use a mini CFto CF card reader and ejecting the mini CF portion on the ribbon cable seems to work also; The board seems to need that "click" on insert. Have you come across this? How did you fix it? Thanks!

Hi Chris, I am having real problems with my ender 3v2 which no one has been able to solve as yet!!! I have purchased a Bondtech BMG with a 3:1 gear ratio. Bondtech say you should enter 415 on the e-step setting and you should be sweet. However!!! When I've done this and then command 100mm move on the extruder motor via the screen it pushes 80mm and takes 15-20 times as long to do it. Can you help please????

I love the polypropylene build surfaces such as the Mamorubot. Best surface I have ever printed on! It takes some dialing in, but it is by far superior to anything else I have tried. I use it on all of my FDM printers.
