Adult Swim Cuts Ties With “Rick and Morty” Creator Justin Roiland #Shorts

Adult Swim has severed ties with the voice actor behind both Rick & Morty! Justin Roiland, who’s also co-creator of the series, faces charges. And more people have been coming forward on social media since the charges were made public, Accusing him of other crimes. Squanch Games – which Roiland founded – has also announced that he’s resigned, But no word yet on whether Roiland will be removed from his projects with Hulu. Adult Swim says it’ll continue production on season 7 of Rick & Morty, With reports noting that the roles of both characters will be recast.

Man wish we normalized actually being found guilty before cancellation. How many ppl have been removed from projects just for them to be found innocent.

Two things to take away here.

1. Adult Swim doesn't care about his charges, they just care that the public caught wind of it. This case has been going on for 3 years, he pled not-guilty 3 years ago, and the only reason people are just now finding out about it is he had a pre-trial hearing on the 12th and it went viral. These major companies don't give a rats ass about what you're in court for, as long as the public doesn't know about it and you keep making them money.

2. This is an obvious case of guilty until proven innocent. Look at Johnny Depp, 4 days after Amber made her allegations Disney cut ties with him, Warner Brothers dropped him, do you know how much that limits your career when the 2 biggest studios in the world drop you? He then takes Amber to court and without any doubt proves his innocence, but the damage was already done because of cancel culture.

I'm not defending him, I'm just saying innocent until proven guilty. How many people here that are talking badly about Justin also talked horribly about Johnny but quickly jumped ship when the trial started and climbed aboard the SS We Love Johnny. Zero information has been released other than his charges and trial date, hold your opinions till you hear both sides.

I know they won't, but I want to see a rotating cast of VA's for a season. Having some of them be the international VA's with subtitles would be hilarious and could work in universe/canon.

I mean, rick and morty is such a self aware show that breaks the fourth wall all the time. I'm sure there won't be an issue with changing voice actors. I would venture to say they might look for someone who sounds totally different and play into that as the joke.

As I think about it, I'm actually kind of curious to see what happens to Rick & Morty when they recast. I love the show, but have to wonder… if they manage to recast well, it shouldn't be a big hit, and there's even the chance that this could bring a little more variation into things. Since they have established a more consistent production schedule in more recent seasons and have been renewed a decent ways into the future, they should have the stability to make this work, so long as the new voice actor/actors can pull it off well.
