I wasn't a cat person until my wife and I got one. Then we got another. Then another...

Send help.

Or at least cat food or litter.

I am a widow. My cats comfort me.. they ease my suffering and feelings of loss and grief. Meeka, a little girl tabby, can hear me from across the house, If I start crying she runs up to me and starts rubbing against me and purring. I swear she is far more spiritually aware than I ever will. She will sit with me until I calm down, she literally grabs my hand... I'll pray and she stays with me and purrs. Marco Polo, a big plump orange tabby comes every night and asks to be combed and petted before I sleep. They are making this time of awful transition and loneliness a lot easier. (and to be honest, they know when my husband's spirit comes for a visit, especially Meeka, who was his cat.)
My husband originally didn't like cats... he died a true cat lover and owner. He made them a wonderful cat bed/tower when we got these two. His own design... worked 2 weeks on it.
He always named our cats and swore that the cats told him their names when they walked up to him the first time.

It's not like it's my decision if I sleep with the cat or not, it's her bed and I'm just tolerated in it 🤷‍♀️

My cats have relieved my blood pressure and my seasonal affective disorder for years. Twenty years ago my doctor was going to put me on high blood pressure meds. I asked him to wait because I was moving into a pet friendly apartment and I planned on adopting 2 cats. My blood pressure tended towards the high side but it was also low at times. He held off on the meds. I adopted Angel and Ruby and went back six months later. Dr. Greene looked at me and said "I don't know what you're doing, but keep up the good work. Your blood pressure is normal." Okay then. Two months later I adopted a male kitten. And the rest is history.

I share a bed with 5 cats, and two of them want me to hold their paw to sleep ... I've never suffered from depression! 😻😻😻

When I had cancer a few years ago, our orange kitty Ellie was my nurse. She would lay on my chest (after stepping on my port first, of course) and purr and purr. I swear it helped. She''s in heaven now, she passed about a year after I was declared cancer freee. Amazing. She had the loudest of any cat I've ever known. Our current orange boy is pretty loud but you could hear her in the next room!! I love my dogs too and I loved my horses.

We built an extra big bed on a posture for my husband, our cats and me. It is 2 Meter x 2 Meter (sorry do not know in Inch or foot, but it is biiig) and never am I happier when they are all there. 3 cats sleep orderly aligned on my right, the fourth near my feet and my husband left. I am somewhere in the middle. Surrounded by beloved, how cool is that? I highly recommend this way of a good night 😉.

“Having a support system that doesn’t talk back...” Um. Speak for your own cats. Mine talk back all the time. Sassy little love monsters.

The thing that relieved my stress today was seeing and spending time my neighbor's cat, Thumper. This cat is super special as he has extra toes (polydactyl). He is unbelievably gorgeous with his blue eyes and Siamese seal point markings. A month ago his owner received the sad news that his rear leg had a cancerous growth and needed to be amputated. This was devastating news. It broke his owner's heart and mine as well.
Today, a little over 2 weeks out of surgery ...Thumper is doing fantastic!
This cat RAN to greet me today. He acted as if nothing had happened. It made me so happy. I've been taking care of this cat ever since he was a kitten whenever my neighbor was out of town. He was full of energy and life today. He didn't seem to care that he was missing a leg. He was even using his extra toes as support.
I can't think of a better source of stress relief than having a 3 legged cat running to be petted because he had better things to do than feel sorry for himself.

When I'm in a depressive episode, my cat stares at me while I'm crying then snuggles with me. Makes me feel less alone.

Right before lockdown, I “fostered” a sweet, vocal lil porch cat. She pulled me out of a period of depression, fixed my sleep schedule, and gave me something to look forward to in life. She helps me wake up every morning nibbling my fingers. She talks to me when the house feels empty and quiet. Cats are the best.

I'm a chronic pain patient, and aside from human catnip, my feline friends are one of the most therapeutic loves in my life. <3

I recently rescued a two week old abandoned kitten (now four week old), and a few days ago I had a horrible panic and anxiety attack but I had to give her food every two hours, and I kid you not, she saved me. Her purring was so strong everytime I petted her that it was imposible to ignore it. It made me feel so happy and safe. I didn't save her, she saved me, everyday since shes been with me has been so good!
