Inside/Out Episode 0: Edelrid

In loving memory of Carsten von Birckhahn.

We filmed this series in March and April 2017 with an invitation and support from Edelrid's Brand Manager, Carsten von Birckhahn. On July 15th Carsten was killed while paragliding in one of his favorite places, Val di Mello, Italy. We simply don't have words to express the depth of our sadness at losing such an incredibly passionate, caring, and inspirational friend. Our hearts go out to his family, friends, and co-workers.

After much thought and discussion about whether it is appropriate to continue making this series about Edelrid, we believe Carsten would want the work that we did together to be shared. And so we are continuing to develop the Inside/Out series with Carsten's passion as our inspiration.

We spent 70 days in Europe this year, most of that time behind the scenes at Edelrid's german facilities to get a complete understanding of what makes the company tick. Who are they, what do they make, and why do they make it? These are the questions we aim to answer in our new Inside/Out series. Join us as we dive into everything you might want to know about the climbing industry's most innovative brands.
