"The things you repeat every day, that's your life". Simple and profound.

I absolutely love how Lex asks this question to all of his guests

My mom has always said those same two things, find responsibility and make your bed every day. It really is the key to keeping you from falling into the deep holes of depression.

The advice of perfecting the simple things you do every day has been very helpful to me in my life. I find myself not wanting to take holidays anymore because I just enjoy being at home so much 😅

0:55 - 1:30 Jordan Peterson just explained my whole career. These words are nothing but the realest and most truthful advice you can get. I went from an entry level job at a startup company to a position that I never thought reachable in the past, and frankly never thought of it as something I'd pursue. I learned everything that JP just told you, my career path and my investment in it - made a better man of myself. Ironically I've done dumb things so this period was also the worst on a personal level, and more ironically I was progressing on my job while falling through the bottomless pit personally.

I agree 100% with the make your bed statement. That little activity cascaded my life to take my career seriously and I am much more happy for it.

This is much more powerful than the title suggests - I've watched loads of 'clean your room' videos and this one - I'm getting much more from. I think if we all just watched this video, paused and thought about each thing he's saying in it - we'd be away with it! Thank you

It’s really very simple: if your co-workers enjoy working with you, they will in turn help you find a better job. You may not know how or when, but it WILL happen. It has happened many times in my career. The reverse can also happen. If you are a jerk to a particular co-worker, that co-worker may one day prevent you from getting a better job.

I think that making the bed is key to keeping the bedroom tidy, but I admit that I often skip that morning ritual. As a single person and retiree, I might stay in bed and catch up with TV shows that I've recorded or I explore the internet for hours after awakening while sipping on coffee or tea. If the weather is bad I will stay in bed most of the day. Other than my music studio it's the only place where I have a TV. It helps to have a very comfortable and adjustable bed to sit upright. Lying down in bed while watching TV is not healthy. So, I have to sit upright and keep my back in the proper position.

Then when I 'get up' or get bored watching TV, I usually program myself to think about making music. So, I go into my music studio to spend all day practicing my music and working on compositions or videos. That's how I keep happy. But I wouldn't give that advice to young people who must earn a living by working. It's not sustainable as a lifestyle once they move out of their parent's homes and into their own.

Order is the precondition to freedom. Absolutely love that.

How about that... Peterson's most concise and succint point is also the most helpful and actionable

the greatest job i ever had was working on the shop floor at a very busy Dr Martens retail store in central London. everything i’ve achieved in my life i can point back to that experience and the lessons i learned, entry level jobs are the best.

I taught my kids the Tom Coughlin rule. If you show up on time at work…your late. You’ll never get fired for arriving at work early…unless you find the boss pleasuring the secretary.

I did borderschool for 8 years. I was 9 years when i started, i still had nun's looking after us after schooltime until we went to bed for the first 3 years. We learned discipline, punctuality, manners everything. The best time of my life. Btw this was a school for children with ADHD and worse - i wasn't the nicest and did some crazy shit. But those nun's knew how tto handle us with love and care, something we never had. I miss the good old days. It got me where i am today and that is 28y old with a milliondollar business.
