Mean Girls in 10 Minutes, Is Cady the real villain?

With the digital release of the highly anticipated Mean Girls: The Musical, fans of the iconic film are revisiting the original 2004 comedy in a new light. One intriguing perspective that has gained traction is the idea that Cady Heron, the new student idolized for taking down the Plastics clique, may have actually been the true villain all along. Her ruthless tactics and willingness to employ the same cruel behavior she initially condemned raises questions about her moral high ground.

Mean Girls follows Cady (Lindsay Lohan) as a formerly home-schooled teen who attends a public high school for the first time. There, she gets taken under the wing of two outsiders, Janis and Damian, who clue her in to the school's harsh social hierarchy ruled by the infamous Plastics trio of Regina, Gretchen, and Karen. Though first appalled by their mean-girl behavior, Cady soon lets her desire for popularity corrupt her. She infiltrates the Plastics while simultaneously plotting an elaborate revenge scheme, manipulating people's lives and relationships in the process. As the stakes escalate, Cady's own actions become just as toxic as those she originally condemned, culminating in a brutal all-out social war.

i don't like how everyone blames a single character for everything😭the point on mean girls is that ALL the girls are mean to some capacity 😭Regina is a bully that uses her power when she feels threatened, cady becomes a mean girl, janis is just as manipulative as regina etc.They're all victims and active participants in each others misery for eg. Regina's homophobia causes her to humiliate janis(her previous best friend)in front of everyone and janis comes up with the idea to try and ruin regina's life.

I think Cady became attached to the cycle of becoming mean because you can see in the beginning scenes how naive and kinder her character is. I would say for Regina since she was used to being the center of attention and at top she always had a very mean side to her but at least at the end she did change for the better.

Nah Janice is the real villain. She used Cady to do her dirty work and mess up Regina’s life. Cady was brain washed and didn’t know how people in a school are socially.

Janice/janis was the real villain, she was so obssessed with getting revenge on regina and used cady for her "revenge" and blamed cady for it when things got out of hand. Yes regina was mean, but its just like she symbolizes the stereotype of a "mean girl", while janis symbolizes that not only girls like regina are capable of doing horrible things to people.

The way Regina treated Gretchen had nothing to do with Janis Damien or Cady so it was her own undoing by having Cady stand next to her in the talent show

The problem is 90% Regina. If she had just made the choice to join the lacrosse team at the beginning of high school none of this would have happened. The other 10% of blame belongs to Gretchen (5%) and 5% all the people who look up to those girls simply for their beauty.
