I learned the pipe command the hard way. Wish someone taught me that too. I use it every time I am in the CLI these days, can't live without it.

Congratulations James!

I can second the Chris Bryant Udemy courses. No shortcuts, Chris teaches more than Cisco ask for on the exam, you can't beat it for VFM!

Hey Chuck, I just found you.I'm going through a programming bachelor on college and I cant find programming interesting. But there is a course which I'm taking on college and it let us students to play with Cisco routers and switches. We have labs on VLAN/inter-vlan, RIP, RIPnG, SLAAC, static, NAT, PAT, SPAN, static and default routing, DHCPv4 and DHCPv6 and it was really fun doing them and I found myself really enjoing the CLI interface. So in 2018 I will start with a private school that teaches for CCENT/CCNA, MCSA for 2016server, SQL, exchange and wordpress.

In the last 7months i've been reading up on cisco technologies and routing concepts besides school, and in that time I have decided to buy myself a Cisco router and a Cisco smart switch which have a console port so I can have fun experiementing and getting to know the cli a lot better. its still very entry level but I dont have much money since im in college now.

I really enjoy your videos on cisco certs tips and tricks and encouragements. I'm also going to buy a Cisco lab equipment for CCENT and CCNA next year so I can set up different labs home besides on school.

I'm going to start with CCT cert before I enroll on that networking class that lasts for 1year.
I'm also going to try and build my network infrastructure based on cisco routers and cisco switches, going first for a entry level smart switch, then a L3 fully managed switch so I can try with inter-vlan, uplink connections, STP among other things. I will then set up the SG300 switch as root switch and then the smart switch as SW1. then hopefully I will get some cisco catalyst switches for free since they are planning on upgrade their cisco switches.
Should I even go for the CCT cert?

Hi Chuck, new fan, I love yours videos and I really appreciate your time giving us information and tips and tricks, I'm still going thru the material to get my CCNA certification and I will like to ask you, what software are you using for CLI in your MAC? ✌️ Thanks 😁

To exclude SEP you should be piping the "show cdp neighbors" output not "show mac-address-table".

Hey chuck what is your opinion on SDN and network programmability. Will we see the end of the CLI? Will we have to adapt and learn scripting? Python, C+, and other languages? Just want your opinion.

I just passed my CCNA Exam this past weekend. Took the CCENT first 100-105 then the 200-105. I am considering studying for my CCNP which I planned to obtain next year. Should I do programming? Or stay on track with the CCNP. Will Cisco also start re defining their certifications to include some information on coding and programmability?

Sincerely,

A concerned future network engineer lol
