How to Play Different Volumes in Each Hand | Piano Lesson

One of the most challenging but key piano playing skills is playing one hand louder than the other. Generally speaking, the right hand has the melody and needs to stand out more. If you play both hands at the same volume, the melody will get lost or ''covered up'' by the left hand chords. This videos talks about why playing different volumes in each hand is hard and gives you exercises to solve this difficult problem.

I'm currently working on this! I thought that playing with both hands was a hard hurdle, but getting my left hand to not sound like a giant is playing, is much much harder. Lol

Being a lefty, I have a hard time with this. Never mind the fact that the lower notes seem to be naturally louder due to the thicker strings.

This type of exercise is just perfect for my practice because for me it's hard to cooperate with volume and the more interesting, it has exercise for coordinations on every notes, thanks a lot.
