The Hyundai Kona has moved into its second generation, and looks to build on the strengths of the original by still providing eye-catching looks, solid build quality, generous equipment and good value for money, and adding in better practicality, slicker infotainment and more technology on top.

Key to the appeal of this small crossover is that it remains available with a range of powertrains, from a simple three-cylinder petrol, all the way through to hybrid and fully electric options. In this CarGurus UK video, Vicky Parrott tests all of the Kona powertrains back-to-back to assess the strengths and weaknesses of each.

Specifically, the cars tested in this video are:

Kona 1.0T Advance
From: £25,680
0-62mph: 11.8sec
47.9mpg (manual)

Kona 1.6 HEV Advance
From: £30,025
0-62mph: 11.2sec
60.1mpg (auto)

Kona 1.6T N Line S
From: £33,525
0-62mph: 7.8ec
43.5mpg (auto)

Kona Electric Ultimate (65kWh)
From: £43,095
0-62mph: 7.8sec
WLTP range: 282-319 miles

I didn’t think that you could do a review of 4 cars in 8 minutes but I was wrong. Good, honest reviews👍

Had our N-Line hybrid for a week now and absolutely love it. Full of tech, space and an economic comfortable drive. The electric motor actually can kick in at all speeds with a light throttle. Just drove about 10 mins at 70 Mph on electric only and felt great. An unexpected surprise as all the hybrids I've driven up till now were only good in ev mode under 30mph.

I love how at 2:35, the Kona turns into an EV6 and then back into a Kona 😆

Very nice review. Well done. Short, full of details. Well presented.
The New Hyundai Kona is a really nice car with great "value for money". It looks nice in the N-Line style/trim. Far better than the other trims.

Very helpful and informative. The electric one is just far too expensive for a small SUV. 1 Litre is great value and a great car

Question: - do most people 30+ really worry about handling and 0 - 60. probably not. Space comfort etc. which surely is the majority the manufacturers are really aiming for. Oh and most importantly price!
Price / performance is not how fast it goes for the money ..LOL

nearly all reports say they believe the Ev would be better on 17" rims, but cant find anyone who has done a back to back test Ofcourse the problem is one is depentant on what Hyundai supplies from their press fleet. Still waiting for EV release here in Australia....

Getting really confused with Hyundai’s engine choices here. Looking at the brochure, it appears the 1.0 is a non turbo whereas it is a turbo in the Bayon. The 1.6 petrol is a turbo but the HEV isn’t but the Tucson HEV, which I currently have, is turbo assisted. Maybe I’ve read it wrong. I like the car and am thinking of downsizing, but I’m starting to lean towards a Kia Niro now.

Kona electric is a very nice car. I wish it had a range equal to a Tesla. Range is very important. 300+ miles is a must.

1:33 Are we seriously denying how nasty and cheap feeling the plasticy interiors of the VW ID range cars are?

very irritating auto hold / epb The auto handbrake will not function if auto hold is off and AutoHold can turn itself off for no reason Hence a runaway car.
