2024 Hyundai Kona Review

The 2024 Hyundai Kona, an SUV first launched in 2018, has been revamped with both the standard and electric versions. Notably, Hyundai has adopted an EV-first approach for this second generation, designing the Kona primarily as an electric vehicle rather than modifying a gasoline version. This new Kona is also noticeably larger than its predecessor, with an increase of nearly six inches in length, and the electric-centric design is evident in its overall appearance. Despite its innovations, the new Kona remains affordably priced, starting at $24,100 for the base SE trim. However, prices can surpass $30,000 for premium models. These higher-tier versions justify their cost with enhanced features like larger screens, advanced safety technology, and luxury amenities such as a heated steering wheel and ventilated front seats—rare finds at under $35,000.

Test drove this the other day, a huge step up from the previous model. The n line package looks infinitely better than the base model aesthetic though. The only disappointing thing is there is no ‘N’ variant like the old Kona had.

The inside is very nice but I wish they didn't do the crazy molding/cladding around the tires. 😩

If they brought the '24 Kona Hybrid - I'd get that in a heart beat... Looove the design and interior + features AND finding out it comes in Hyundai's Denium Blue Metalic- I'm obsessed - just wish they were confirmed bringing the Hybrid to the US ;-;

Why would you buy a Kona if you can afford the multimillion dollar estate in the background???

Looking forward to leasing my 3rd Kona next year!! I had a 2019 Limited, now driving a 2022 Limited Kona, and would lease the Limited model again. This time, I may even spring for AWD. As I am watching several Kona videos, the new look is growing on me. Those Cylon eyes on the front and back of the Kona (Battlestar Gallactica, for those who didn't catch the reference) is unique. I fell in love with my 2019 Kona back in the day because I love driving unique. I still like unique, but I cannot afford Ioniq. See what I did there? Anyway, this is the best video so far on the new Kona and I always use Car Gurus online for research. Looking at other subcompact SUV too -- again, lease is up next year, so a 2025 model year for me -- and by then, maybe a hybrid will be on the Kona horizon in the U.S.?

It’s frustrating that Europe and Asia get this in a hybrid and we don’t. While I can’t get an EV (I’m an apartment dweller), I won’t ever go to a fully gasoline engine again. This removes the Kona from my list. The Corolla Cross is still King.

Those are some bad gas mileage for such a small car

Wonder what the lag looks like on the two base cars without the turbo

They would have to put a suv in stilts to be at 'eyelevel' with a semi on I-95

The 2023 Toyota Corolla Cross XLE (AWD) maxes out at $35K (after taxes), and when I spec out the Kona (AWD) it’s about the same. You’re getting more car and style for the same amount, so I think it’s extremely competitive. Just have to see how reliable it it though….
