Proud Black American here; I totally agree with you. Good work.

You rightly hit the nail on the head. I'm Ghanaian and most things you said are true. I hate it when people look down on people. It happens around in Africa among tribes. Most Africans, and for that matter, all minorities don't realize that we are able to access the resources here because of what our AA siblings fought for.. Most Africans don't critically analyze the problems in the AA communities. It's generational.
On the other side the average AA, and for that matter the avg American equally looks down on an African because of how one may speak or act due to differences in culture.. We all have to learn some history and culture on both sides to foster unity. It's always an eye-opening experience to learn from one another..

When African Americans go to Nigeria and other African countries, they are treated very well. It is in our culture to always treat our guests well. I know your hosts treated you like royalty.
When Africans come to the US, they are not treated well by AA. We try to relate with African American but we are made fun off constantly because of accents, studying doing well in school, not being hip enough etc. As a result, we build up our defenses and ignore AA and keep to ourselves. Why is it that AA ridicule Africans, but no other race ( white, asian. Latinos) does the same?
And its not a class issue because I now live in an upper middle class neighborhood in Texas that has 50% white, 30% - East asian, 12%Latin, 5%- black, 3% other. Very academically competitive and some what affluent school district but the AA kids still ridicule and alienate children of direct African lineage. You never see White Americans bully or make fun of the "fresh out of the boat" Russian or polish person. Or the latin kids make fun of their newcomers.
Since, you have Nigerian friends ask their kids how they relate with AA kids. Then ask AA kids the same question.

Africans give back, they help create employment for AA and others in the community. In Texas there a lot of African owned biz especially in healthcare that does this. My Nigerian highschool alumni organization participates in food drive, volunteers at shelters and food pantry. We may not do it at Oprah level, but we still do it.

As a Nigerian immigrant I agree with some of your points but I beg to differ on a few. First of all, the best of the best don't leave their country. It's the middle class. The elites in Nigeria don't leave. I know you have visited Nigeria because I have watched your videos. The stereotype you speak of are a direct response from the stereotypes Africans get when they arrive in America. The average black person is not open minded as you are when speaking of Africa. In their mind, Africa is primitive, dirty and unsocialized. Mind you, while in Africa, most Africans do not know anything about African American stereotypes. While in America, Nigerians develop a defense mechanism in form of stereotypes. Another thing is African Americans don't venture outside of their communities. You are more likely to encounter a white American in Africa than you are to come across an African American. African Americans are still revered in Nigerian, if an African American decides to venture into business or acting opportunities in Nigerian, he or she would be welcome with open arms. However, that individual has to take that leap first. You also talk about giving back and not just sending money home to their family members, have you forgotten that immigrants pay just as much taxes as locals in America. I have been paying 30% of my income to Uncle Sam for as long as I can remember. Don't you think I'm contributing to social security, Medicaid, public education and welfare that some African Americans enjoy without working? The average African American does not care about Africa. When they do venture out of America, they are quick to visit the land of their oppressors in Europe. They are two sides to a coin. We don't see ourselves as an extension of one big clan. I would love to debate you on this topic beyond the scope permitted on YouTube.

I totally agree with u and thanks for speaking on here about this problem and issue. I was feeling good about Africans being here until i came on YouTube and began to see and hear the disrespectful way they think of us Black Americans and talk about us. I mean really who does that???? Come here to our country and have the nerve to look down on us when if not for us they wouldn't even be here seriously! 💞🔆🇺🇸

Why do some AAs feel like they know and can tell Africans about immigrant struggles? Do you know how insulting that is? AAs know all about other people making assumptions about them but they continue doing the same to Africans. Why do you keeping doing to Africans what you dont like being done to you?

I would like to say that I disagree with alot of what she's saying. I am a 40 year old AA and my husband is Nigerian. I appreciate immigrants from everywhere, especially Africans. They bring so much knowledge, history and morals that we have lost through the years from EDUCATION and integration. Integration has been the MAJOR factor as to why AA are still at the bottom! White supremacists is definitely another and they make sure that African ppl only go so far also. Even in cities when the majority is black their is still a limited amount of African businesses.

So if AAs know that African immigrants are the "best of the best" then why the hell do they call them "bootyscratchers"?

It’s Time for African and Caribbean Men to Build-Up Their Home Countries

It’s time for African and Caribbean men to build better societies in their home nations. The West has become fed-up (as evidenced by the election of Donald Trump as President in the United States as well as the stern backlash against African immigrants throughout Europe) with the continuing failures and excuse-making of Black nations throughout Africa and the Caribbean. European and Asian scholars are calling out Black nations to get their acts together.

It appears that the only strategy that African and Caribbean blacks have to improve their lives is to emigrate away from Africa or the West Indies to a White First-World nation.

African and Caribbean people cannot emigrant to the West to solve their problems. They must build from within. The African and Caribbean masses cannot live with dignity amid the squalor of abject poverty so common throughout Sub-Saharan Africa and the West Indies. Africans and West Indians must build better societies in their homelands in order for their native women and children to live better and for them to live with dignity.

The so-called ‘Super Negro Immigrant’ is just another interloper scavenging Affirmative Action opportunities in the United States that were designed to redress historic political and economic injustices against American Blacks. Neither African nor Caribbean migrants are making those kinds of educational or economic strides in Britain, France, Germany, Italy, Belgium, Spain, Portugal or Italy (the former Colonial Masters of Africa) where there are no Affirmative Action programs to create so-called ‘Super Negro Immigrants’.

Africa’s development is the responsibility of Africans.
The development of the West Indies is the responsibility of West Indian people.

African and Caribbean Expats in the United States, Canada, and Europe and Africans and West Indians in their home nations are responsible for building a better Africa and West Indies. And they must do so - not at the expense of the educational, jobs, or business opportunities designed to remedy past injustices against American Blacks.

I’m African, I lived among the African Americans for 11 years all I dated was African American girls and I don’t think they hate Africans. What I observed tho was that they disassociate themselves from us because they perceive Africa and Africans as primitive, ugly, uncool etc therefore they are embarrassed to belong with us. At the job I worked it’s almost like you had to be endorsed by someone who knew you that you are African but you are ok before everyone else started talking to you. “ He’s African but he’s cool” I heard a lot of that. No beef with AAs l love them.

Excellent commentary!

However so called Black Americans are not the same people as immigrants from various of nations of Africa. No matter how are emotional strings try to leak us together the reality is that we are not the same people and for numerous of reasons. Africa has 53 countries and all of the nations have their own different cultures, languages and tribes, ask yourselves are all the nations in Africa Unified by so called race?

5 reasons are below: (We are different people)

1. Nationality
2. Culture
3. Language
4. Tribes ( different sets and subgroups)
5. Homogeneous nation

When immigrants come to America their primary objective is to compete social-economically not to make friends. Have you notice most Foreigners come to America regardless of so called race, to start a businesses, develop their own communities and neighborhoods.

The hypocrisy I see from us so called Black Americans is not calling out the corruption of these American black politicians, so called conscious leaders and Christian pastors who sell us out on every opportunity it arises. We must first start treating each other with respect, honoring our own people and have some dignity about ourselves.

If you are not a descendant of slaves here in the U.S then all other immigrants should take a back seat and support and contribute to building the Own nation.

And side note why do we call ourselves Africans? Besides The name Africa came into Western use through the Romans. Africa was named after a so called white man who was Scipio Africanus (236–183 BC), Roman general.

News Flash: China has a new military base in Djibouti Africa. Interesting fact. White Supremacy? What about Chinese supremacy?

Whats so sad about this video is that it generalizes African immigrants or immigrants as a whole. Lots of immigrants especially black immigrants give back in many ways and I know so many organizations that also do this in their community but you assume simply because you do not see this in your limited experience. I hope you do more research before generalizing on a wide group of people.
