Lahaina is a historic town on the west coast of Maui, Hawaii. It was once the capital of the Hawaiian Kingdom and a bustling whaling port. Today, it is a popular tourist destination that offers a variety of attractions, activities, and experiences.

One of the best ways to explore Lahaina is to stroll down Front Street, the main street that runs along the oceanfront. Front Street is lined with historic buildings, art galleries, shops, restaurants, and bars. It also offers scenic views of the Pacific Ocean and the neighboring islands of Lanai and Molokai.

Front Street has something for everyone, whether you are looking for history, culture, entertainment, or relaxation. Here are some of the highlights you can enjoy while strolling down Front Street in Lahaina:

Banyan Tree Park: This park is home to Hawaii’s largest banyan tree, which spans 1.94 acres and is over 150 years old. The banyan tree was planted in 1873 to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the arrival of Christian missionaries. The park also hosts various events throughout the year, such as art fairs, concerts, and festivals.

Wo Hing Temple Museum: This museum is housed in a restored Chinese temple that was built in 1912 by Chinese immigrants who worked in the sugar plantations. The museum displays artifacts and exhibits related to the history and culture of the Chinese community in Lahaina. It also features a theater that shows films made by Thomas Edison during his visit to Hawaii in 1899.

Lahaina Art Galleries: Front Street is known for its abundance of art galleries that showcase local and international artists. You can find a variety of styles and mediums, from traditional Hawaiian paintings and sculptures to contemporary abstract and surreal works. Some of the notable galleries include Kush Fine Art Gallery, Evo Art Maui, Village Galleries Maui, and Lahaina Galleries.

Lahaina Restaurants and Bars: Front Street offers a wide range of dining options, from casual cafes and food trucks to fine dining restaurants and seafood joints. You can sample Hawaiian specialties like poke bowls, shaved ice, and spam musubi, or enjoy cuisines from around the world like Mexican, Thai, Italian, and Japanese. You can also quench your thirst at one of the many bars and pubs that offer live music, karaoke, trivia nights, and happy hour specials.

Outlets of Maui: If you are looking for some retail therapy, you can head to the Outlets of Maui, a shopping center that features over 30 brand-name stores that offer discounts up to 65%. You can find clothing, accessories, shoes, jewelry, cosmetics, and more from brands like Tommy Hilfiger, Calvin Klein, Coach, Michael Kors, and Levi’s.

Whale Watching Tours: During the winter season (November to April), you can join a whale watching tour that departs from Front Street. You can hop on a boat or a raft and get up close and personal with the majestic humpback whales that migrate to Hawaii every year. You can also spot other marine life like dolphins, turtles, and fish.

Front Street is a must-see attraction when visiting Lahaina. It offers a glimpse into the past and present of this charming town. Whether you are looking for history, culture, entertainment or relaxation you will find it on Front Street.

Aloha everyone, Mahalo for the overwhelming support for our beautiful Lahaina town. We wanted to post a few charities that are available in case you wanted to help.. There are thousands of people and animals that have been displaced from the recent wildfires including an estimated $6 billion in damages with over 2, 700 buildings destroyed. 😔 Please consider donating to one or more of the charities below. Anything helps! Again Mahalo for your support. Together we are #Lahainastrong

The Maui Strong Fund, run by the Hawai'i Community Foundation,  is accepting donations for necessities like food, clothing and shelter for families who have lost their homes.

The Maui Food Bank is accepting donations that will pay for meals provided to displaced residents in Maui.

The Maui Humane Society is seeking contributions to fund care for pets displaced by the wildfire.

This just makes me so emotional to watch. Maui is so special to me. It was a trip to remember. A trip of a lifetime for me and my husband. The people there are so genuinely nice. And now to see they’ve lost so much just breaks my heart.

Great video! It was made six weeks ago, just on time to preserve the memories of Lahaina. We’ve been there countless times and watching the devastation of that historic town is heart breaking. Watching the video brings some solace knowing that maybe some images can be used to rebuild something similar. Meanwhile, Prayers to all Maui residents and condolence for all the loss souls.

Thank you for this video. It helps to see it the way I just did two weeks ago. I was born and raised on Maui and grew up in Lahaina. I remember when there used to be a Red Lobster, Planet Hollywood, & WB store. I remember climbing on the banyan tree and fort as a keiki (back when we were allowed to!). I remember hopping on those stumps in front of the Wharf, and jumping to try to reach every store front sign. I learned to surf right along the harbor at breakwall. I drove my bike down Lahainaluna to work at the Honolulu Cookie Company next to Lapperts. I parked right across from the wharf while working my shift at Crazy Shirts. I remember closing the store for a short break to catch the fireworks from the harbor with my parents. I took the ferry multiple times to Lana'i, and took boat rides out with the Pacific Whale Foundation. We went to the library often. My friends and I would cruise down the street, sometimes in a pickup truck bed or on a skateboard grabbing on the back of cars. I saw many movies at the theater in both the Wharf and at the shopping center that became the outlets. Longhis and Bubba Gumps were thriving, and we would close out the bar at Moose McGillycuddy's. I miss my home so much. It remains in my memories, but I physically can never go back there again. This place was everything to me and now it's gone.

Our family cannot control our emotion as we watched your video over and over. As I mentioned before, we recognized the beautiful shops, restaurants that we frequented last summer and a few summers ago. The least we could do is to 'round up' our friends and family to donate to the organization that the governor had mentioned. Lahaina town, our hearts are with you😓

Thank you for this tour. It's been years since I lived there. I had become large, and sophisticated looking. I am horrified over the destruction and loss of life.
