Hollow Knight- How to Beat Hornet (Part 2)

In this video we go over all of Hornet's attacks and the cues to watch out for. Once you know all of Hornet's attacks you can then learn how to doge and eventually get through the fight.

At the start I break down the four main attacks that Hornet will throw at you and will give some tips to doge. There are a couple of other things to watch out for like Hornet's little jumps, her walking into you and her guard attack that I did's not expressly go over.

This video is not a charm guide. I Managed to beat Hornet in this video as a noob with one nail upgrade, no spells and almost no charms. I believe that you can beat Hornet with whatever charms that you have. It will take some time and a decent amount of practice.

This fight is actually VERY much the same as the first fight with her, with the addition of the super annoying spikes. I read a lot of comments prior to fighting her and I guess I overhyped the difficulty? The most important thing when going in to this fight is to STAY CALM and be PATIENT. You do not need to smack her non-stop. Always dodge dodge dodge! Your number one priority is to dodge, and then worry about hitting her IF you are in range. The best is when she does the jump attack, because all you have to do is dash away, turn around and smack her ONCE. When she dashes, dash towards her and never away from her because you might land on her. Her AOE is the hardest to dodge and sometimes also hard to predict. When she throws her needle, do what Relyea did (jump in range and quickly jump out again to dodge the return.

Your two chances to heal:
1) When she throws needle and you are way out of range.
2) When she does AOE and you are out of range.

As soon as her spikes come, hit the spikes whenever you get a chance, and continue to dodge her attacks. Mark of pride really helps with this to keep yourself at a safe distance from the spikes. That's pretty much it. Just be patient and hit her only once when given the chance, because usually if you try to squeeze a second attack in, you will get hit in return. Not a good trade off in a fight that gives minimal time to heal.

i know this is all in my head but... does anyone else feel like when youre watching a video of this boss, she moves really slow and telegraphs clearly, but when youre playing its TIMES FASTER AND IMPOSSIBLE TO DODGE??

She is so unpredictable, she always reacts differently to my attacks. Everytime the fight goes well suddenly I loose 5 masks in like 5 seconds.

It is all about the mindset. I would say that staying calm and being patient are about 98% of the fight. Once I am very anxious and nervous I was not able to beat her yet.

What throws me off the most is that sound cues are not fixed to certain attacks. Sometimes you hear ODINOS and sometimes HEGALES, but its the same attack. I dont know why they did that seems like an odd choice...

I really liked how when you showed your fight with her, you showed how it was tricky for you too. Some tutorials will only show the optimal run, but this video is much more applicable because it’s at a level most people are at.

The problem I'm having isn't even with her actual attacks, is when she directly jumps at me
