Zoot were a local Adelaide ( South Australian) band that formed in the mid 1960s. With a couple of lineup changes they became hugely popular - being voted best Australian band in 1969. This song, which was recorded in the first half of 1970, was a B side written by their guitarist Rick Springfield. It only appeared in stereo on the very rare "Zoot Out" album. Their lineup was Darryl Cotton (vocals), Beeb Birtles (guitar, bass, vocals), Rick Springfield (guitars, vocals) & Rick Brewer (drums, percussion). Rick Springfield went on to have great success in the US as a actor & solo musician (Jessie's Girl). Beeb Birtles went on to form the very successful Little River Band & Darryl Cotton had some success in the US. All credit goes to the Zoot.

THe Zoot did kick arse for a band that started out more pop, they did some fine heavy rock, their version of Elanor Rigby is a classic, good one!

Zoot were an Adelaide outfit who started in the mid 60’s in Australia I guess I’d call them progressive rock, anyway not just a pop band, better than that they disbanded in ‘71 after a cover version of Eleanor Rigby which took them to no.5 in the National Go~Set charts They had some pretty good singles out and their music still holds up today. Featuring Darryl Cotton (RIP) on vocals, Beeb Birtles On bass, Rick Springfield playing awesome guitar and Rick Brewer playing a pretty mean drum riff
