1. Poland wasn't on the map during the industrial revolution because it was being occupied by germany, austria and russia. None of those countries wanted to industrialize their Polish regions and left them as agricultural centers. They also stole all the gold reserves, a lot of private estates, and priceless pieces of art/culture
2. Most of Poland's territory was occupied by russia which has been a failing state almost since it's inception and has always been signigicantly poorer than the rest of Europe
3. During WW1 a lot of Poland's territory was turned into No-Man's land since that was where the Eastern Front was. The war destroyed a lot of population centers and infrastructure
4. During WW2 a similar thing happened. Poland's cities were decimated, infrastructure/production ruined, 20% of the country's population killed, countless valuables stolen from the country and private individuals (to this day there are Polish works of art hanging in german houses because they were pillaged by their SS/Wehrmacht grandfathers), much of the country's elite were systematically exterminated (ie Katyn massacre) by both the germans and the soviets, and all of this was followed by 50 years of soviet occupation which ruined two generations, led to massive corruption, and led to the soviets literally stealing entire factories and moving them to mainland russia and charging Poland for their own occupation (they called it "liberation")

You forgot to add that Germans when they invaded Poland in 1939, stole crops, livestock, machinery, entire factory production lines, all kinds of vehicles, locomotives, agricultural equipment, jewels, precious metals, works of art and anything of value. Hiding behind the agreement with the former USSR, which on behalf of Poland waived reparations for damages of about 850 billion today dollars, they have not paid until today. While Poland was oppressed behind the Iron Curtain for several decades, the Germans benefited from the looted wealth.
