Should We Give Ashes of Creation a Chance?

Ashes of Creation is certainly an MMO causing waves in the online gaming community. Some say that the game is going to be the next World of Warcraft, toppling the King of MMORPGs at last. Whereas others say that Ashes of Creation will be a short lived meme, drawing in players before radically disappointing them with low-tier gameplay and rewards. Well, with the recent Alpha test having gone underway, the question now rests upon us: Should we give Ashes of Creation a chance? Or do we skip over this MMO and look for better opportunities down the road?

Based on what you've seen in the Alpha test, are you more hyped for Ashes of Creation, or is this MMO just dead in the water? I know for a lot of you the hype has certainly been soured by all the drama.

If we're going to keep giving Blizzard chances, then we should probably be open to a company that hasn't done us dirty yet.

I've played non-stop all 4 weekends so far, about 100-120 hours in. And i'm still addicted and can't wait to login on Friday and keep diving deep into the Artisan systems. Despite being super bare-bones, it already feels like the RPGs of old and so far really delivers on that promise. I can't wait to see what comes next in Phase 2 on December 20th (also going to be a wipe, fresh start for everyone). The developers have shown nothing but extreme efficiency, open communication and true passion for the game, which is an absolute breath of fresh air in the swamp that has become the past 15 years of MMORPGs. Make of that what you will :)

I think Nixxiom is missing the point and just seeing it as a consumer. The long development time only seems this long as it was crowd funded and developed in an open manner from the start. Any MMO takes years to make, we just dont hear about most of them until they’re much further into development.

We all need to give Ashes an honest chance and back it. A privately owned mmo is a huge deal. This could change the market entirely because they aren't beholden to shareholders.

I was a kick starter backer. Have been enjoying A2. I keep hearing people say paying however much to play a game and that isn't what this is. This is deciding to support a studio and their game development with the bonus of being able to help them test and shape the game itself. That way, once this game does launch we'll have the MMO that people want to spend 1000s of hours in

I’ve been playing it for 2 weeks and you should. It’s already the best mmo for community out there.

I’m in the alpha 2 and I absolutely love it

People pay 180 bucks for a year sub for WoW... 120 bucks sounds okay for the entirety of alpha 1, 2, beta 1, and beta 2... plus the random in-game currency and month sub... I'm having fun in it so I guess it's money well spent

I've been playing it for the last 2 weekends and it's a lot of fun, it's janky and it needs a lot of work but it has potential, I like the slower pace, the long term goals I have as well as the goals we have within our node and the social aspect. This game is a long time from release I think so in my opinion it's $120.00 well spent already and I now have access to it for the years while it develops and I get to help it develop.

Based on these comments, the ones who have been testing the alpha like the game. The ones who don't want to give it a chance are the ones complaining.

"Should We Give Ashes of Creation a Chance?"
Brother you play WoW and have given blizzard a million chances in which they dont deserve what kind of question is this to a new game in its alpha stage 😂😂

Guarantee as soon as December hits and they add the new content and open it up to 5 days a week, there will be so many people raving about how awesome it is,

I just want to put it out there that AoC is taking most of it's systems from Archeage, because that's where Steven came from and what he loved - so did I. Most of what they are doing isn't new. The node system is novel in the sense that is combines prior systems into one large one with their own spin and polish on it, hopefully making it more cohesive. The dynamic world alterations tied to nodes are, as far as I know, unique. However, if they succeed in delivering what they have said is their goal, it will be the most feature rich and largest scale sandbox MMO in this setting ever made. It will be mostly Archeage all over again without some of the drawbacks it had. It will be more capable, dynamic and scaled up significantly. This is a monumental task and you'd be right in being skeptical. However, the devs have proven thus far to be effective, attentive and reactive to feedback and are on track with their roadmap. AoC isn't for everyone, it's a sandbox in nature. I don't think it will be lore heavy and I don't expect cinematics or good story telling - though I'd love that very much - as Archeage was very grind focused and AoC is looking like the same.

Give it a chance. Stevens team is doing their maximum every day during this Alpha development.

OG backer and playing A2. Im an old school MMOer. DAoC EQ and much more. Ashes is a real game, there is no scam here. But its also going to be 1-2 years to get this done from what I see.

I backed the game during their 2017 Kickstarter. Anyone who says the game is good right now isn't being truthful. Aside from the bugs there's very little content at the moment. The foundation and the desire is there though. I'd 100% recommend anyone interested to buy in for phase 3 in May. By that time the game should be in a playable state.

As long as it's not an obvious flop with an endless list of negatives with very little pros, then I think you should give any game that interests you a chance.
I know its a clickbait(ish) style.
But it's actually moving along and is obviously not a scam, so why not give it a chance?
I say this as a long time viewer of yours and WoW player of nearly 20+ yrs.
Don't deny yourself potential fun, if anyone thinks it looks likes its worth the time (or money) then give it a try. I plan on doing so on an official release most likely at this point.

I'd say give it a chance on the weekends; IT DOES HAS BUGS SO WHEN PLAYING REPORT THEM!!! Don't be strayed by people saying the games gonna flop; no it's not a WOW killer cause AOC is more like Eve Online if you've played it before, and yes i watch as many streamers as i can play AOC and sit there quietly not back-seating people in a game I HAVE NERVER PLAYED yet; not yet but when it's 2025 i will get into AOC.

give it a chance, absolutely. Will it deliver? I would say on parts, I just hope they get the player driven stuff down sufficiently well for them to work out the rest of the issues for when they inevitably have to release in a not quite finished state.
