They are fundamentally different. ER is about wrope memorization of materials and boss locations to get a build going. Sekiro is about becoming one with the boss fight since there are no real builds.

Most important thing is you can never outscale your enemies in Sekiro, you easily can in ER. For the most part you have to perform a certain choreography for sekiro bosses, if you don’t you pay pretty dearly each time. Your gadgets very rarely offer anything other than utility and your weapon upgrades don’t change anything other than now being able to kill the giant centipede hiding inside. You can’t make it through Sekiro without learning how to actually play.

In elden ring for most bosses you can ring a dinner bell, chug a free mana extra power potion and kamehameha freely for 30 seconds while your mimic tanks. You can get through almost all of journey 1 without really knowing what you are doing. (Elon’s build is prime example)

Elden Ring can be way harder or way easier, the gameplay can vary so much that u can implement Sekiro into it. The MF that faced Maliketh with a sh1tty axe with base dmg only faced a challenge bigger than any Sekiro boss that was designed to be doable with the standard build.
