Eric Clapton - Just Like A Prisoner

One of Clapton's greatest songs, and certainly two of the greatest guitar solo. Clapton knew what he was doing when he played this. The first solo is from the soul, but isn't spectacular, and then the second solo is just amazing. Then some more of the epic lyrics before the best outro solo ever, played by the master.

Also, this is an awesome album.

Watched a documentary where Clapton said this was his best playing ever. He said he could have went on forever. If I could play half this good I would think I was one of the greats.

One of his best solos. I've heard him say just that in an interview. The breadth of his talent is remarkable.

I fully concur with your description of the song (as a serious guitar player myself), and I agree this is an awesome (and underrated) album. One of my favorite Clapton albums for sure... thanks for sharing!!

I'll never forget listening to this with my brother while smoking ❤️ we had this album on cassette and listened to it on a karaoke machine that had built in speakers which I got from a flea market ❤️ how times have changed and I'm only 27!!!

The chord arrangement here is one of those that really lends to heart felt soloing that can go on and on and on. Another one like that is "Old Love", I once went on for 20 minutes to that tune and it still didn't get old. Some progressions just bring things out in a person.

I've always loved the Clapper. But something extraordinary got into him while he recorded this song. He starts teasing during the verses, but solo at the end is just damn belligerent.

Listen to the guitar, wail and cry, listen to the sincerity of it all, drown yourself in the ocean of his tears....

RIP Jamie Oldaker. Sadly Jamie passed yesterday, succumbed to cancer. Eric's longtime drummer of the time, Jamie, is the drummer in left side and Phil Collins is right side (headphones or proper stereo required)

FFS. Don't critique it people. Just revel in the sweet heat of it! This is close as we get to perfection without involving deities.

Love it when EC skirts the edge of abandon. Another example. Ain't Going Down from Money and Cigaretttes.
