It's the end for 'The Acolyte.' The 'Star Wars' series will not return for season two. The Hollywood Reporter has confirmed that Lucasfilm has opted not to continue the show, which aired its season one finale on Disney+ last month. The series earned respectable reviews from critics, but it was review-bombed by audience members who perceived it as, quote, "woke," leaving the show with an 18 percent audience score on Rotten Tomatoes.

I mean, I wouldn't even say it was "woke" thing. The show was kind of boring and disappointing and predictable.

All the reviews I saw for it said it was bad but not because "It's gay" or "woke" but because the character's motivation made no sense and there were too many plot holes.

Viewership was down because the show itself was bad

Anything related to LGBTQ is not why the show was bad. The Actors gave it their all and deserved accolades Lesley did not however produce or write to the high standards the fans expected. Any woke angeda getting hurt feelings is ancillary and part of any media these days.

Review bombed? Lol I don't think that's the primary factor of why this show was canceled.

I wish I still cared. I was fully done after they punked out Boba Fett. Disney is failing because they continue to deconstruct George Lucas' Star Wars and fans reject that $h!t, no other reason.

Fixed it for you THR:
Leslye Headland, who was Harvey Weinstein's former personal secretary.

Was it review bombed...or is it just a bad show? You are showing us evidence (its cancelation) of the latter.

Oh-oh, the devastating END of a Show that should bring Fun and Action to Star-Wars-Fans on Disney Plus ! All is over, this is the End, my Friend !! 😢😢😢

Funny how the director can't take criticism. I had high hopes for this show after the trailers, but to be frank, after episode 2, I had been greatly disappointed from the obvious narrative this show was trying to promote. If you want the public to be empathetic, you don't do so by trying to shove it down their throats.

Writing was terrible and a lot if the acting felt bland. This feels like some throw away show from the CW in the late 90s.

The show failing had nothing to do with being progressive/woke. The writing and direction was really really bad. Andor had similar representation and is loved by most people who watched it.

Weren't they hating on males too? I think one of the lead females was bragging about it in one of the interviews.

I would watch this, but since inflation hit hard, I turned off a lot of subscriptions including Disney+ . I would imagine plenty of people share the same situation as I do. Given enough time and money, I’d give it a go.

Woke? I actually didn't the "woke" had anything to do with this one. The villain seemed kinda whack and it got slow and boring. Nah fam, this just wasn't up to par.

At some point Disney, and the streaming industry in general, will truly have a reckoning with all their pie in the sky dreams of huge profits and green lighting so many productions and the remaining stuff that gets made will be so bland focused grouped to the utmost you’ll look back on this time as the golden years. No more risks, no chances, just a ton of boring rehashes of the same thing

Show the studio executives that risks are bad and they will make derivative garbage forever

Oh well…
