Tennis is such a hard game. Most ppl feel that they are underachieving when they lose. It's natural but you must be honest with your own weaknesses and see where you can improve. In my own case, I do well in points because I'm real aggressive but when I play matches, I see a lot more low short chip shots that makes driving the ball hard. So I end up playing the net a lot. That's really the difference for me between practice and match play. If I don't compensate for what my opponent does, I can see getting frustrated. The best way is to develop an all-court game and be ready for anything your opponent throws at you.

One thing I found works for me if I am getting myself down about losing games or executing shots is: scheduling matches with different opponents directly after one another, or directly after training. Very likely, you will play both sessions the same way. You get therefore direct feedback whether the problem is on your side or simply due to different opponents. If you film yourself, even better, you can analyze your game afterwards. But this scheduling method can give you immediate clarity and peace of mind.

Actually with my limited technical resources I think I learned how to look for opponent weaknesses and fight strong during the match and maximize whatever technique I have at the moment. It brought me from 3.5 to weak-middle 4.0 level. But after that you absolutely have to improve basics of your technique and have good attacking forehand to beat middle-strong 4.0 level guys and higher. Because all of them on this level already have pretty good consistency and some weapons as well.

God, I find the better my opponent the better I play. But against weaker opposition sometimes I just seem to throw away points sometimes.

Part of it is that the less predictable and lower power shots force me to be more reactive but a lot of it is simply lack of focus. Usually it means I'm trying to "do too much" and am not dwelling on the ball the way I should be.

I've started playing tournaments just to get used to adapting on the fly and playing with a crowd. Can be hard to not tense up but that's a big part of tennis. 🤷

Number 5 for me, because when you continuously don't have good opposition, or constant defeat during a match. I have the feeling of not more improving.personalky I think I can only improve with people that are far more stronger than me. Nervetheless, I still continue intense training to be a full package on court

Wonderful videos. just noticed that you were wearing the orange pants in lots of your videos...and wondering what's the brand. I like it very much! I am grateful if you can indicate...

Dang it... 1 to 4 apply to me (just played two awful matches littering the court with my mistakes); though there is hope 😅

I’ll be interested in the next video. After my match on Sunday, I’m having thoughts of quitting tennis.
