I dealt with this for over seven years. Been on multiple meds. Went into deep depression due to this horrifying disease. I am able to manage it a lot better now. I don't use any fragrances in any products anymore and never leave home without applying my sunscreen. Thanks Dr. Dray for sharing your insight on Rosecea. You advice is greatly appreciated.

I'm surprised you didn't mention laser treatments. That's the number one thing that helped treat my rosacea. I highly recommend.

My rosacea has been controlled with no flare ups for 4 years now. Your Dr. Dray's channel has helped alot with this success. Avoidance of flare ups is necessary they really weakened my skin. Rosacea has given me some very painful times for 25 years even while working with my dermatologist and several rounds of antibiotics and laser treatments. My skin is much stronger now not having gone through the rosacea flares. Daily skin care makes all the difference. It's worth discussing that keeping the skincare habits to avoid flare ups have to stay in place. When a flare up happens it's a long road back comfortable skin. Scalp cleansing is essential to avoid demodex and other microbial imbalance. To avoid a bout with rosacea I have to maintain the following: gently clean my skin and scalp daily, use sulfur and zinc pyrithione in my face and scalp cleansing a couple times a week, avoid dry skin by moisturizing at least twice a day. I do have pale Type 1 skin so daily sunscreen includes cream or lotion application, sun hat, spf clothing, and umbrella. I waited until I had normal skin for 2 years before using Tretinoin and use it about 4 times per week and it proves to be very good for my skin health. I also need less laser treatments and they work for longer by avoiding rosacea flares.

The De La Cruz sulfur mask SAVED my face from the worst rosacea flare of my life in 2020. Learned about it from you and forever grateful.

Just started using ivermectin cream and for the first time in about 6-7 years my cheeks, forehead, and chin are 95% less pink/red/bumpy/and painful. I have definitely been pampering my skin and repairing my skin barrier. Things are looking up! 😊

I just learnt the other day Azelaic acid is good for Rosacea and found some in my drawer by The Ordinary and it’s made an immediate difference, I highly recommend it 👌🏻

Just diagnosed with Rosacea today after dealing with it for 1.5 yrs. I used Kate Somerville's sulfur daily cleanser ever since I started noticing the rosacea wasn't going away with my normal daily cleansing. It really helped calm everything down and go away. I didn't get any education on it when I met the doctor so I came on to YouTube and found your video. Thanks for sharing!

I have had rosacea since I was a young child & actually found your channel by looking for advice and recommendations regarding rosacea and potential treatments for it. Thank you for making another video addressing rosacea.

My rosacea didn't start to flare until a couple of years ago. It makes sense because I was traveling a lot to visit my dying father and then coming home to take care of my dying dog. The time difference, stress and lack of sleep were major factors. Now, that i'm getting more sleep and things are less stressful, my rosacea is still present and flares up. I think the stress and lack of sleep from previous years are catching up to me. I hope to find something that helps soon. Thank you for this!

Hi Dr Dray I love you. Thought I'd help out with an interesting list of summaries on Rosacea for you viewers. Thanks for the video on Rosacea there are beautiful people out there suffering and shouldn't be. I know a few women with Rosacea that are really beautiful and the dermatogists have helped so much in maintaining their beauty over the years. I'm telling you some of these doctors are not only artists but miracle workers. In addition, the Rosacea Society has helped so many people in providing information and research. They provided me a wealth of information years ago.

Stages of Rosacea:

Pre-Rosacea (Stage 1):
Characterized by occasional flushing and redness, usually triggered by factors like sun exposure, spicy foods, or stress.

Mild Rosacea (Stage 2):
Persistent facial redness and visible blood vessels become more noticeable.

Moderate Rosacea (Stage 3):
Persistent redness is accompanied by papules (small, red bumps) and pustules (pus-filled bumps), and irritation.

Severe Rosacea (Stage 4):
Thickened skin, particularly around the nose (rhinophyma), and prominent blood vessels.

Types of Rosacea:

Erythematotelangiectatic: Persistent facial redness with enlarged and visible blood vessels.

Papulopustular: Red bumps and pus-filled spots, similar to acne.

Phymatous: Skin thickening and enlargement, often on the nose.

Ocular: Eye irritation, redness, and potentially other eye problems.

Topical Treatments:

Antibiotics: Topical antibiotics, such as metronidazole, clindamycin, and ivermectin, can reduce inflammation and bacteria overgrowth.

Azelaic Acid: This cream or gel helps reduce inflammation and redness.
Sulfacetamide-Sulfur: This combination cream can reduce inflammation and improve skin texture.

Brimonidine or Oxymetazoline: These vasoconstrictors help reduce redness and flushing.

Oral Medications:

Antibiotics: Oral antibiotics, such as doxycycline or minocycline, can be used for more severe cases of rosacea.

Beta-Blockers: These medications can help reduce flushing and redness.

Laser Therapy:

Laser therapy can target and destroy visible blood vessels, reducing redness and flushing
.
Other Treatments:

Light Therapy:

Intense pulsed light (IPL) therapy can help reduce inflammation and redness.

Dietary Changes:

Some people may find that avoiding triggers, such as spicy foods, alcohol, and caffeine, can worsen their symptoms.

Skin Care Products:

Using gentle, non-comedogenic skin care products can help minimize irritation and inflammation.

Choosing the Right Treatment:

The best treatment for rosacea will depend on the individual patient's symptoms and severity. It is important to consult with a dermatologist to determine the most appropriate treatment plan.

Note: Treatment may take time to show results. Consistency with treatment is key to managing rosacea effectively.

Lifestyle Changes:

Identify and avoid triggers: Such as sun exposure, spicy foods, alcohol, and stress.

Gentle skin care: Use non-irritating cleansers and moisturizers.

Protect your skin: Use sunscreen with a high SPF.

Consider makeup: Green-tinted makeup can help cover redness.

I have rosacea and this is what ive found that has helped me. I use curology every night that has tretinoin, clindamycin phosphate, and azeleic acid. I put on the aveeno calm and restore gel cream before as a buffer. I put vaseline on my lips and eyelids. In the mornings i use finacea (azeleic acid 15%) foam then beauty of joseon spf. I get IPL photofacial laser once a year. I take oral oracea (super low dose doxycyclin 40mg) which basically is an anti-inflammatory.

If i had a nickel for every time ive heard, "Did you get some sun?"

I've been a long time sufferer of rosacea and was always prescribed Metronidazole (an anti-biotic cream),
whilst this initially worked, over time it became less and less effective, took months to see any improvement
even when I first started using it and flare ups would occur within one to two months of finishing the treatment.

As a result I did some research and discovered that the rosacea might be a cause of an over abundance of or over sensitivity to the Demodex mite
(these critters live on every ones face!). To fix this it was suggested that using an anti-parasitic cream like IVERMECTIN might help, so, when I next
had a flare up I asked my GP to prescribe said cream.

WOW what a difference that made, after one week all the angry looking spots were much less angry and the redness had subsided significantly.
After two to three weeks the spots had disappeared and redness had gone completely.
The treatment lasts 4 months and time between flare ups has significantly improved.
It's been over 9 months since my last flare up!

Minimal skincare, use of sunscreen, little to no alcohol, and sleep/stress management has helped manage my rosacea. Thank you for this video and reminder why eating whole foods are important. I think this would help me a lot

I've had flushing for the past 2 years. To a degree some red spots. My derm said its Rosacea. Last 2 weeks I focused on SIBO and mites since those are 2 things that are easily controllable. Washing my entire body with dandruff shampoo with tea tree oil. Applying Tea Tree oil into face moisturizer. Doubling the dose of pro biotics morning and evening. Hydrated face wash, which leaves your face feeling oily but amazing results. Very clear improvement so far.
