Replacing the tailgate lift gas struts on a Honda Civic

In this video we look at replacing the gas lift struts on our Honda Civic. In addition you get to look at all the rubbish in my boot !

that car is the best i have had and i am still keeping it at 16500 miles, fuel efficient and rugged for all terrains. I am stuck with it despite having a juke which i have abandoned for my wife.. love it

Nice, I'm gonna use a adjustable washing line pole. Hopefully it means I can do it by myself.

I tried doing this myself. Cannot recommend. You need to be two people. I successfully swapped the first one myself, resting the tailgate on my shoulder. When I removed the second one I kind of flew backwards when it released, and then it got stuck between the tailgate and the body of the car. At the same time, the bloody tailgate went crashing down and the back window exploded! It was purely my fault though. This video is great, just don't try to solo it :D

I've changed mine, but they are to stif, the lid close hard and open slowly, maybe it will break out?

Looking at a bunch of lifts for my boot as I keep smacking my head on it (and one is clearly bulged/rusting)... :D Where'd you grab yours, if you don't mind me asking? Seen some for 15-20, what did you end up spending?

Summer the struts work in the winter it doesn't.... so it might be just the weather effecting them.

Myne push up weigh to fast and bang on the body 😁 well I do have mercedes struts on 😂

Too bad Honda didn't have the brains to simply bolt the struts on.
