Horrible Entanglement Leaves Seal With Deep Scar

The seal's wound looks clean, there is no invisible infection, but we can imagine how painful his past few weeks must have been. He had several loops of fishing line tightly wrapped around his neck, he probably picked it up while playing, or he did not even see it coming. As he grew, it got tighter and tighter. Of course marine animals have no hands or tools to remove the unwanted plastic as it gets tighter and tighter.
For this seal, the ordeal is over and he gets to start his second life. With help from the salty ocean, he will make a full recovery, and only a massive scar will remind us that his life was once in grave danger. Most other marine animals in this fateful situation face a different outcome.

Oh my gosh, think how he struggled to breathe! Aside from the awful, unrelenting pain from the fishing line. Team OCN, you're all heroes, thank you!!

How does Tony do it? Mid sentence, with the first seal not yet completely netted and “THERE “ he spots another possible patient and off he goes . Talk about multi tasking! Great job 👏

Those little pups "protecting" that bull are so darn cute, even if they are a tripping hazard..."not your fight!"🦭😍

I am so in awe of the team. As I sit in my livingroom here in Southern California every morning sipping coffee and watching the latest post I try to imagine myself sprinting down the sand into a chaos of seals and finding my target. Nope, not even in my younger days would it be possible.

Hats off to OCN and the help they give to the animals being hurt by human carelessness.

Babies love to be in the thick of the action. Great catch Tony. The wound on the poor seal looked so sore. Thanks for saving his life.

Beautiful rescue and thank you for what you do.

Also in some odd way I think the seals eventually realize that you folks are there to help and not hurt them. I would even suspect that fear is what makes them run away from you because they are concerned of being harmed by human beings like they have been harmed in the past.

But I also feel as time goes on more these seals will accept your presence and probably be less resistance to having these horrible things attach their bodies to be removed.
