Michael just being a pure evil monster that the main timeline of 1978-2018-2021-2022 goes with does make him much scarier than the others indeed.

The novelization of the 78 film had alot of the supernatural aspect with Michael hearing voices. Kid Michael was getting into fights, pissing on himself, hurting animals and threatened to kill Judith because she didn't give him any candy and drowned a girl for taking something from him . Plus his great grandfather was a killer who killed a couple on halloween night

One of the aspects of the Cult of Thorn origin that I do like is that it gives context to the scenes where both Laurie and Jamie have been able to get him to pause his rampage. Two times he's been show crying behind the mask and sporadic reluctance to kill either of them...It implies that he doesn't want to be doing this but that the curse is forcing him to against his will. I think it makes it somewhat tragic. But I do prefer the Pure Evil explanation!

I just love the idea of Michael killing without reason like in H1. I don’t necessarily mind the Laurie and Michael sibling thing but I just prefer the H1 setup where Michael was the predator while Laurie was pretty much the prey.

Me personally, since I started out with Halloween II, then later with H2O and went back to watch the original, I’d say the family ties are for me. There’s just something about having a serial killer in the family that makes it terrifying to live with because you’re their blood and it’s inescapable. I also do love the mystery behind it all and sometimes having no motive is scarier. But for me, I’m going to stick with the family connection.

Side note: CONGRATULATIONS ON 500K! I randomly found your channel about 4 years ago when looking up Child’s play trailers. Have loved watching this channel grow!

I prefer the family motive, simply because it gives Laurie’s character more importance. The only issue with that being the motive is that it makes the series harder to continue without Laurie. In the reboot “Laurie” was immediately more integral to the story. And once 2018 came out the big draw was Jamie returning as Laurie. I’m not sure how the franchise can move away from this formula and be successful. The scary thing is that they retconned the sibling story line and still had success. Because of that they may believe that it no longer matters, but I’m not so sure that’s the case. If Jamie Lee Curtis isn’t in these films, how would the box office look? Only time will tell. Can’t wait for Ends.

Is the Jack-O-Lantern supposed to be Sam from Trick or Treat? If so, than that looks great!

I always assumed that in the 2018 movie, Michael not killing the baby but then going on to kill the mother was a more twisted way to kill the baby in the long term: let it starve to death, with no mother to take care of it anymore. That’s my head cannon at least.

I enjoy Michael when it's clear there's something inside, but you don't know what. You mentioned him leaving the baby in Halloween 2018, and I personally think in the 1978 one he needs a mask as the persona he wears to kill, but why exactly is never made clear. That's when he works best, because he has no motive but there's hints of three-dimensions to his character.

I love the idea of him just being a pure evil monster with no pattern to why he kills. It makes him scarier and more unpredictable.

I prefer the first, second, & H2O 🎃.
I like the sibling idea. That would be terrifying knowing you have a sibling out there that just wants to kill you. I definitely agree with that.

It’s important to remember though regarding your statement on the baby in 2018, that in the original 1978 film Richie runs right into Michaels grasp but he let’s him free. It’s like him being able to speak. He chooses not to. For whatever reason he spares people. Another example would be young Lonnie in Kills.
