Me and my friend basically used this method to get into a burned out house. Laid a 2x4 against the wall, and just scaled it up to the roof where there was a hole lol (cops came and kicked us out before we hurt ourselves lol)

Plus they also used straight swords more often, not specifically the Ninjato but they did on average more stealth which required more stabbing

It might be more feasible to have another hold the sword upright and stable, as well as bring it up more vertical

Ninjas typically didn't have access to swords and if they did, sure they wouldn't risk damaging them when other options are available such as a grappling hook, long piece of bamboo or even just bring a ladder

I feel like this would be easier to try on taller walls where you might find it useful, cause if the wall is you'd keep trying to just hop over it in the back of your head

If I recall this technique was used with both the typical Tsuba but also was significantly easier with a more rectangular Tsuba which could more easily rest against the wall and provide a better foothold.

I’m pretty sure the tsuba that ninja used was square shaped so that it wouldn’t roll around like that against the wall.
